A few hours later, there was a knock at the door. Asher looked at it with concern and didn't think that he was expecting anyone. He looked at me and turned back to the door, smelling the air. He was trying to find the scent of the person at the other end of the door. Asher motioned for me to come to him and paused my game before planting myself in his lap. He kissed my forehead and inhaled my scent before gripping me tightly, holding me protectively. My heart raced a little, but his touch was so calming, he stroked my legs, soothing my wolf.
“It’s going to be okay,” Asher said; he didn’t give me a moment to answer back.
“Come in,” Asher called, and Nick slipped through the door, locking it behind him. Some knocked and banged on the door on the other side.
