Chapter 1
“You were not supposed to leave your room!” My mom half yelled at me. I whimpered softly, sitting like a five-year-old on my bed. She faced my nanny, who went down on her knees immediately.
“Where were you, and what were you thinking?”
" What if that beast in her decided to reveal itself and cause chaos? ” Grace fell on her face and apologized severely.
My name is Mirabelle Rowan, the daughter of the Lycan king of the blue moon pack. I shifted at an early age according to my nanny, way before I could walk. Unlike my sister, whose wolf was a full white wolf, I was a red-headed wolf as my father addressed me.
Once in a decade, when the atrocities of the wolves are too much, the moon goddess sends two special wolves who will be born as twins. One is born to cause destruction and havoc throughout the packs, while the other wolf symbolizes healing, peace and flourishing in the clan.
It used to be a myth that was read to us as a lullaby. The last twin that was born, the red wolf, symbolized destruction, and she killed almost all the silver wolves, so she was referred to as the blood wolf while the white healed and blessed the pack, so she was referred to as the reincarnation of the moon goddess until we were born.
Unfortunately, I am the blood wolf. As soon as the news spread that the twin had been given birth, the silver moon pack struck our pack. Their aim was to kill me, as they were scared, and they wanted to prevent such a disaster from occurring again.
One of the silver wolves killed my sister, thinking it was me. I did not know that we were being attacked. I heard I was found playing with my sister’s blood, giggling happily.
The whole pack was shaken by my sister’s death, the reincarnation of the moon goddess was killed, and it was the blood wolf’s fault.
The Pack members demanded my head, but my father refused and promised them that they would never see me, nor would I ever leave his home. This judgment did not satisfy my mother.
She was the most affected person in the clan. I watched her hate me daily after that incident. At the age of five, she made my father hire a nanny as she was tired of seeing my face around her.
I have never really seen my father or knew how he looked. I think I have a sibling, but I have only seen him once from afar with my Mother, who strictly keeps him from me.
I don’t know why my father kept me alive, it feels more like a punishment for killing his daughter.
My wolf started speaking to me when I was fifteen. She hardly talks, just whimpers whenever I tell her how much I hated her for making the whole pack hate me. I still need her though. If I want to leave this prison, I will need her help.
(end of flashback)
“Don’t let her out of your sight again.” My mother's gaze softened a bit. She looked at me one more time before leaving the room.
I looked at Grace apologetically. She has been the only mother and father figure in my life after the death of my sister, which everyone thinks is my fault. She winked at me before walking up to me. “Did you have fun princess?” she asked calmly.
“I am sorry I did not inform you before leaving, I just wanted to walk around the field before the morning run.” I looked at her with tears in my eyes. My mother knows she cannot inflict pain on me because of my wolf, so in my stead, she punishes Grace.
The only reason she let her be today was because of the preparation for a conference that will be held this evening. Everything has to be perfect.
“It’s fine, Mirabelle, just don’t go wandering off without letting me know,” she said with a smile on her face she said, hugging me. “Let me see you darling.” She wiped the trail of tears on my face. I will be 18 in 2 days, yet she treats me like I am still her five-year-old baby girl.
Her eyes wandered around my body before landing on my arm. There was a huge cut sitting right there. I must have gotten it when my mother was pulling me back from the garden. I hurriedly tried to cover it. “It's nothing Grace, I must have scratched myself while I was playing in the garden.” I lied, but she was not buying the lie this time.
“It was a mistake sending you here, I will make sure to correct my mistakes,” she muttered to herself.
“What?” I asked. “You have been through a lot, my lady,” she said calmly. Grace never calls me my lady. “Why…” she cuts me off before I could say anything.
“I will get the cleaning herbs,” she said and left. I doubt she knew I had heard her. “What mistake was she talking about?” I thought to myself. The grunt and noise coming from the training field took me from my thoughts.
I walked to my window and saw the warriors training. The training increased after the news of the silver rouge conquering packs around. I sat down at the window of my room, looking at the train.
I am not allowed to leave my room under any circumstances, so I find myself daydreaming whenever I sit by the window. The conference with the Rogue silver wolf will be held this evening. I heard the maids whisper about it, and my parents wanted to make an alias with him. He has been conquering nearby clans and packs.
He started as a rogue and is now the strongest Alpha and owns the biggest pack in the clan. If they do not form an alliance with him, winning a war against him has a low chance of working out.
My father’s health has deteriorated over the years and my brother is too young to be an Alpha.
I saw a group of people entering from afar. It seems it was the rogue. My mother and a man who I suppose is my father, came out of the house with his Beta, Ethan. He is the youngest Beta of the whole clan.
His father died in an attack that year trying to protect my sister and me, when he was much younger, but that did not stop him from climbing the ladder at a young age. He is the second person who sees me in this pack. Sometimes I wish he was my mate.
Maybe if he was, everything would be easier and better. As if he could read my mind, he looked up and our eyes met. He smiled lightly at me before looking away, which did not go unseen by the rogue.
He looked up following Ethan’s gaze. I could not help but be pulled to his silver orbs. He smirked and looked away.
I could feel an aura and bond between us. Immediately, I got down from the window and moved to my bed. I saw my reflection in the mirror at my bed stand. My eyes were glowing blood-red.
