“Never mind.” She hopped off the bed. We did the same. “Look,” I said, pointing to the open Bible. She looked. She scanned the pages. “Luke 10:18,” she said. “He underlined it. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.” It gave me a chill. The demon was one thing, and one scary thing at that, but you throw the devil into the mix, and scary shoots through the roof. Was he involved in all this, too? But why? And why be involved with me when there were tyrants and mass-murderers pretty much all over the planet? “Satan was an angel first, right?” I asked, and she nodded. “We have one of those, too. Big guy. Massive set of wings. Not too keen on me killing anyone.” She exhaled. I think she was also trying not to kill anyone. Namely me. “Let me read Curtis’s notes
