chapter four.

      Ash

If I knew following the Iridina sisters would mean hiking I would have asked for some shoes mine well they are ruined. I enviously looked at Lilly fluttering her magnificent green wings causing her to hover a good foot in the air. Shieing I asked Lilly where we were going Lilly turned to me now flying backward and smiled a smile that no matter how upset you where would make you smile

“Just you wait and see. I know you’re going to love it” Lilly said pumping her wings faster than they now sounded like a hummingbird she shot forward at a speed I did not think was possible and flew straight through a curtain of vines and flowers shocked I stopped to admire the bright amber colored flowers the size of my head that was part of a clever disguise for whatever lay beyond them if I hadn’t seen Lilly fly through them I never would have given it a second glance I carefully parted the vines and flowers and step through to a meadow. I’m not sure how to describe it we were in what looked like a mountain with high walls covered in green pink and purple moss and flowers of every color surrounding the meadow I noticed off the meadow there looked to be a few tunnels that led deeper into the mountain I must have looked ridiculous gawking with my mouth open and turning slowly in a circle. A hand landed on my shoulder I looked at the impossibly tall woman in black leather that clung to every curve and crevis of her body but that’s not where her beauty stopped she had the most beautiful and exotic face high cheekbones beautiful full lips and her hair a glimmering shade of purple.

 “ you must be the new girl everyone has been talking about.  names ember em for short I will be training you in basic combat now if you will follow me we will be getting started.” she turned away from me walking into one of the tunnels. What did she mean combat training? I was supposedly magic what would I need combat for. Lilly came fluttering over to me blushing and smiled

“ wow isn’t ember amazing,” Lilly said looking to where ember had just gone. Looking at Lilly’s face I could tell she was completely smitten with the badass looking woman. I smiled and elbowed her

“ you looovvveee heerr” I whispered grabbing Lilly and dragging her closer to where it looked like ember was laying many objects on a table. Lilly pulled on my arm to stop me but we were close enough that ember had taken notice to the commotion. She smiled. my impression of ember was not the smiling type this excited me I never really had a friend and now that I have one (hopefully) maybe I could play matchmaker. 

“ hay Lil what are you doing here” ember came over and stood very close to Lilly “ new girl would you mind leaving us for a moment” she didn’t even wait for my answer before she was dragging Lilly off somewhere. They both had feelings for each other that was obvious but for some reason, it felt like Lilly was trying to hide it. I would have to ask her about it later. I walked over to the dark maroon table that ember was standing at just a moment ago and saw she had placed a variety of weapons on it some were small like the emerald daggers that couldn’t be larger than my hand but others where huge from scythes to swords you name it it was there. One weapon, in particular, caught my eye it was at the end of the table hanging slightly off the edge it was a blade of amber that glisten with flakes of pinks and blues. I picked up the weapon and saw it wasn’t quite a sword it was the same size as a sword the blade wasn’t completely straight like the swords I have seen on tv this one had three curves on one side each bigger than the last.

“ so you took a liking to the curved strait sword its a good weapon but a little tricky to use properly especially this blade” ember came and gently took the sword out of my hand put one leg forward and adjusted her poster and continued her speech with a few deadly looking slashes to the air “ because this sword ends with a strait point instead of a curved one you can still thrust at your opponent but also it’s good for slashing because of the curved teeth on the blade. You get the best of both a regular sword and a curved one which makes this weapon deadly when used properly.”  after she displayed a mock fight I had no dought that this girl was a total powerhouse and that that sword was powerful as well. Ember headed to a small room off the side and returned with a metal scabbard(sheath) decorated with small engraved flowers twisting and winding in the, most intricate of patterns. After putting the sword in its sheath she haded it back to me along with a belt that would attach the sword to my waist. 

“ thank you” I whispered to anxious to say much more “ but why are you just giving this to me?”

Emder just rolled her eyes and turned away.  I was getting ready to leave when ember called after me

  “ hay new girl be back here tomorrow morning and I will teach you how to use Orfhlaitha.” I looked at the sword Orfhlaitha was too long seeing as the sword belonged to me now I chose to shorten the name to Orla. what a fitting name for the weapon. Before I could leave ember asked the one question no one has asked me here at this place yet

“Also what is your name. I can’t keep calling you new girl” this is a new place a new land where no one knew me I could always change my name. I thought for a solid minute what I would want to be called but nothing came to mind so I told her 

“Ash. I am ash.”
