Chapter 5

    Lilly

On goddesses why did I have to see ember at a time like this I can’t keep my composer around her I turn into an awkward mess when I see her. What is wrong with me. I peek out of my lashes at Ember who is pulling me along in the catacombs of the mountain. She was beautiful and definitely out of my league but last summer we were assigned to the third battalion together. The units were not too large and consisted of four warriors and two healers but because we are a special unit there are only three of us: me willow and ember. We all grew up together and I always thought that willow and ember would end up together till last summer when ember had a little too much of the firewater fruit and drunkenly we flirted and kissed. Ever since then I have avoided her because I’m not sure how I feel about us. She is a big part of my life and I don’t want that to change if we don’t work out. Ember abruptly stopped and pulled me into a closet and pushed up against the door there was nothing between us but clothes.

“Why do I have to trap you to be close to you Lilly?” ember leaned down and lifted me so that we were at eye level with each other.  “ hmmm Lilly why do you not come to me like you used to?” I could tell I was blushing but I couldn’t help it if you saw the lust in ember’s eyes the way I did you wouldn’t be able to keep your cool.

“ i .. have um I have been busy lately?” ok so I’m a terrible liar and I know ember could tell. Instead of calling me out on my obvious lie she smiles and leans forward and whispered in my ear

“ do I makke you nerves Lilly?” with each word she sent a shiver down my spine her voice had taken on a deeper sensual tone with her next words “ how I wish I didn’t have to train this afternoon or I would take you back to my chambers” I came undone I grabbed embers face and crashed my lips passionately to hers and I could feel the sparks fly we kissed till I could no longer breath and when we parted ember took a step back causing me to crumple to the ground. I looked up at her and noticed her glamour had broken her dazzling black horns and her curling tail was on display. Did I have the same effect on her as she did on me?

“I have to get back to the new girl.” remember to put her glamor back up and swiftly opened the door “by the way do you know her name? I feel bad for calling her new girl.” I opened my mouth to tell her before I realized I had no clue what her name was. How could I be so dumb? How had I not asked her for her name yet? I looked at ember and shook my head. She then turned and left me kneeling in a broom closet. I stayed there for a while collecting myself off of the floor before going back to the girl I already considered a friend. Slapping my cheeks softly as if to get ember out of my head I straightened my rumpled skirt and flew to the weapons room. I got there right as she was leaving. I heard ember ask her for her name and its ash. That is an unusual name. I put a smile on my face and bounced over to ash 

“ So what weapon did you go with let me see it” I was truly excited to see what she chose. She handed me the sword at her hip and to my golly, she chose the deceased queen’s sword. This was too much I can’t keep the secret Anton told me, Ash is the rightful heir to the throne of Aislinn.
