Epilogue
"I really can't seem to get this shoe to fit me according to how I want it to." Said Thandiweh while trying to force a red high-heeled shoe on her right foot. "What I really can't seem to comprehend is how you managed to make this man addicted to you." Responded Melody, Thandiwe's best friend and housemate. "Well.. I'm glad he is, I mean, he pays me better than all my clients, plus he is a spender." Said Thandiweh. "Very true my friend, Not only is he rich but also good looking. He is one of the rare old men I've seen that look as good as he does." "I thank the universe for aligning me with the right gem this time." Melody laughed and continued writing on a plain paper as she sat on her study desk. "What are you writing?" Thandiweh asked. "I am doing my assignment, you know how stressful this coming week will be with the exams, consequently, I decided to do my assignment so that I can focus on studying." Responded melody. Thandiweh laughed and said, "Well, lucky me I don't have to go through all that stress, seeing that 90% of my lecturers can't wait to taste how acidic I am." She said while spanking her round bat, carried her purse and walked out as Melody watched her leave. Thandiweh and Melody were students at a university in Zambia called “The University Of Zambia” , they shared an apartment. Thandiweh was twenty years old, she lived on survival, seeing that her father had never been present financially, he was one of the richest men in the country for he held the position of a director at a company he worked for. Her father was very rough and toxic, he kept his money to himself therefore, his family had to find means of survival. He abused his wife by beating and starving her while Thandiweh watched. When Thandiweh got admission into the University of Zambia, she vowed to work so hard to save her mother from her father. Her mother, Mrs Anne Stevens, owned a small business selling vegetables, she survived on the little money she earned from that business. She always understood her husband's actions because she thought that him being a mixed breed of a black and a white person was the reason he acted the way he always did. That night, the club was quite packed unlike the other nights. Thandiweh walked her way past the door bouncers confidently, her jaw raised and step in place. She walked past some men who sat in the VIP section, one of them passing a comment, "What an African true beauty." She walked her way to the VVIP private section, sat on a red leather sofa and crossed her legs. She sat there for thirty seconds before an old man with some grey hair on his beard emerged. "There you are, what took you so long?" He asked while opening his arms to Thandiweh for a hug. "I was stuck in traffic. " She responded while she stood to hug the old man. He slid his hands around her waist and moved them all the way to her big round buttocks. "Seems that someone's father missed me," Thandiweh whispered in his right ear while she caressed his bold head. "Hmmmm, you just know how you make me lose control." He responded. He let her go and extended his arm pointing at the couch, offering her a seat. Upon her seating, the old man sat next to her and lit up a cigarette, puffed the smoke in the air, looked at Thandiweh and grinned. In a few seconds, a waiter emerged "Good you are here my boy, give me the usual," he said while pointing at him and looking at Thandiweh while saying, "My girl will take her usual too." and smiled. Thandiweh looked at him with a smile and pulled out her phone to check what the time was. They drank and spoke about politics because the old man was the mayor of that town, he had maintained his position for a long time, and he was renowned and respected. In a few minutes as they spoke, his phone rang, He looked at the screen of his phone to see who had been calling and pressed the side button to stop the ringing and put the phone back in the pocket of his jacket. Thandiweh looked at the pocket of his jacket that he had placed his phone in and looked at his face with a suspicious look. In a few seconds as she was still looking at him, his phone rang again. He repeated the action. "Is there anything I should know?" she asked with a sarcastic look. "aha..huh.. Why do you ask?" He asked while looking scared. "Why are you avoiding your phone?" She asked. "My darling," suddenly relaxed and smiling, and continued, " I am a mayor, of course I will receive calls here and there." "If it's Politics, why not just pick up?" "I don't want to spoil our precious juncture." "This is what you always say. You have never picked up a call in front of me, you are always sneaking out in the middle of the night each time I sleep over at your house." "Darling, look.... I am a busy man, you may not understand because you are not in my shoes, but I know that with time after we get married, you will understand. " "Get married?" She asked in amazement. "Yes, you are going to be my wife soon and you need to start learning how to be a mayor's wife." Thandiweh stood from her seat with so much anger. "Honourable Victor Chanda, you just made this decision on your own without consulting me?" He held her hand while looking up to her and said, "But I am consulting you now." "When were you planning on telling me that you had these plans?" "Can you sit, we'll talk." She looked at him, rolled her eyes, picked up her purse and left.
