"Wake up." I heard Henry's voice say from what seemed like the far side of my room. "For what?" I mumbled in annoyance. It's the weekend and all I want to do now is sleep in. "Because I need to whoop your ass in Mario kart eight." He said then whacked my head with a pillow. I whined and hid under the blankets. "You asshole, can't that wait?" I whined, he laughed and jumped on my bed then whacked me with the pillow again. "Nope." He said, I groaned and got up. "I'm too tired to even play," I complained as I rolled out of bed and on to the floor. He stood over me with his arms crossed over his chest, "Nobody told you to stay up watching cliche rom coms." He said before grabbing the pillow off of my bed and hitting me again.
This time I was able to block the hit. "Netflix told me to." I countered back. He laughed "Unbelievable, I already have everything set up downstairs including our snacks. If you're not down in five minutes I'm filling a bucket of water up and dropping it over your head." He said and I sat up with a sigh. He's done it before I know he's not afraid to do again. I put my hands up in defense, "Five minutes." I replied. He smiled, pleased with my answer and gave me a final whack with the pillow before throwing it on my bed. I looked at the full mirror on my door and grimaced at my appearance. My hair looked like an abandoned bird's nest and drool stained the side of my face.
I seriously have a face only a mother can love. I thought to myself as I got up and made my way to the bathroom. I freshened up and grabbed the skincare kit from the medicine cabinet before making my way downstairs and into the living room. Our skincare kit wasn't really in dept as it should be but it was enough to call it a kit. We used it every weekend, usually during our gaming sessions and we kind of made it a tradition. "You got everything?" Henry asked as he set up the server. I lifted the blue basket full of products with a tired smile. "I got it all," I replied. He grinned at me before turning back to Tv. I scanned the coffee table and smiled, For someone as annoying as my brother he honestly knew the way to my heart.
On the coffee table, there were things I've recently added to my 'Like' list and he took note of that. I say recently added because I cannot eat or drink the same thing over and over again for a long period of time, I get bored. The table was filled with nerds, kettle corn, cheese puffs, welches and a few spicy chips ranging from flaming popcorn to flaming hot Cheetos. I placed the blue basket on the table and grabbed the sort of cold rose quartz face roller and started using it on my face. "You know, I will never understand why you use that," Henry said placing his switch down on the table.
He grabbed the lemon exfoliating mask from the basket and shook the packet a bit. "And I'll never understand you do that," I said still rolling the cool roller across my face. "I feel like it gets the serum all through the mask," He answers. "I feel like this does something for my face, Makes it tighter perhaps. Or gets the blood flowing but whatever it does, it feels really therapeutic. You should try it one day." I said and he shrugged as he opened the small packet.
"Maybe." He only said before carefully putting on the mask. I stopped rolling the roller across my face and grabbed the toner and a serum mask from the basket before leaning back on the sofa. I felt relaxed, at peace almost ... every time I did something like this with my brother. We built this friendship, this nearly indestructible bond that I kind of don't know what I would actually do if I didn't have someone like this in my life.
There was a hand in my face that brought me back to reality, I didn't even know that I actually zoned out. "Seriously, You stay up and watch romantic Netflix originals all night and now you can't even complete your routine? You wouldn't last a week in college," He laughed as he chose his driver. He chose King Boo and handed me my pink switch for me to choose. I chose Rosalina and used the toner on my face before reluctantly shaking the packet. Henry smirked "You think my idea works," He teased as I ripped the packet open. I rolled my eyes, "Shut up," I mumbled then placed the sheet mask over my face.
I could feel him staring at me and my lips quivered as I tried to hold back a laugh "Stop f*****g staring at me," I whined. "You look like Leatherface every time you put one of those things on, Imagine popping up on your boyfriend or even your husband looking like Leatherface," He snickered and I rolled my eyes, "My standards are unbelievably high to even consider any type of relationships because of you," I said and I meant that.
Ever since I stepped foot into high school he made it his mission to show me how a guy should treat a girl. Whenever he wasn't terrorizing me with his idiocy he did spontaneous things like take me mini-golfing and then to a restaurant right after just to put a smile on my face. He sat down with me on my worse days and watched sappy movies with me even though he would cringe and complain about how predictable every movie I chose was. He made sure I knew that people like this exist in the world, it was just a matter of finding them.
Henry gave me a cocky smirk, "And I take full responsibility for being the best big brother ever," He said and hit play on the switch. "Now prepare to have your ass handed to you." He said. I laughed as the course loaded in, "You f*****g wish loser. The first one to get to one hundred points win," I said as the game counted down. He scoffed, "Rookie numbers." I rolled my eyes and concentrated on the game. I was winning and he was barely a mile behind me swearing under his voice every time I threw a red shell backward or set a banana trap near the item boxes.
"I swear to f*****g christ himself you're a psychopath. Because only a damn psychopath places banana's in front of an item box." He complained as I crossed the finish line winning the first race. I chuckled and shook my head, "Yikes. Being a sore loser isn't a good trait," I taunted as we chose the second map. He groaned as he saw what map I chose. "If it lands on rainbow road this game is cheating." He said.
I laughed at this, my face mask slipping as I did so. The game did choose rainbow road which only lead to Henry cursing and telling me or more himself that he'd make a comeback on the next maps. And maybe he was right since our games usually ended up being really close. Sometimes he won and got bragging rights for a week, never letting me forget it. Sometimes I won and I cashed in my win with things like making him my butler for the week or something. That's how things worked, somehow we made it our tradition.
"GET f****d!" He screamed his serum sheet falling straight off of his face as he leaped to his feet. He won on the rainbow road map which was rare. I laughed as I peeled off the sort of dry mask off of my face. I grabbed the moisturizer and rubbed it over my face, "Congrats, Still a long way till one hundred i***t," I said, reminding him. He sat down and rolled his eyes, mocking me. "Still a long way till one hundred i***t. Shut up" he said in a childish voice, I being equally as childish poked my tongue out and he laughed, "I hate you." He said and I shook my head. "Liar."
