Good morning

Midi’s PoV It was the same dream again. Every night since my first run I’d relived it in my dreams. Every time my heart ached, longing to return to that feeling where Royal was my protector, somewhere between a father and a big brother. Despite everything I knew him to be until that night I’d never doubted that bond. Running along beside him, the wolf who saved me then raised me, splashing together through the icy snow leaving the pack for dust…. And then in a flash it all changed. One sudden lunge and he had us pinned beneath him, his fangs centimetres from my marking spot, my neck in a vice like grip as I felt his rock solid member brushing down my spine on its way to claim me. For a mere moment my wolf was stunned and we were nearly claimed right there in the snow, with the whole rogue pack seconds away from us and bound to witness… then she took over. With one decisive twist we were free and moving faster than I knew we could, too fast for anyone to think of pursuing…. As the dream faded Cal’s presence began to cloud my senses as I felt myself slowly waking, a feeling of happiness seeping into my body. It didn’t last long, my wolf again snapping our senses back to that bond we had with Royal, the bond that had always allowed me to find him as a child whenever danger threatened in the rogue lands… that bond that now filled me with dread as I sensed him mere meters away. Cal’s face for some reason was right in front of our own. *we have to get you out of here* even through mind link the desperation in his voice was clear. I almost replied that that’s what I’d been doing until he showed up and I delayed my plan. *it’s too late, he’s here.* I replied, as a knock announced Royal had arrived at my door. *look away* I linked a last message before returning to my human form right there on the hearth. For a split second Cal seemed as if he’d ignore it but at the last moment turned, avoiding seeing my naked form. ‘One second!’ I called to the doorway, and rushed to dress, *change the too!!* I hissed through the link at Cal, and as I rushed back out my room with jeans thrown on commando beneath a sports bra and loose t shirt he was there looking immaculately dresses at the end of my sofa. I grit my teeth and strode to the door, suddenly feeling that the 2 seconds to find a pair of pants would have been worth the risk as I was now very conscious of the missing layer. I opened the door just as Royal, fist raises yo knock again, nearly fell through it. He ducked to enter the room and as always his 6ft5 frame made my cave feel half the size. As he clocked Cal still perched comfortable at the end of the sofa the air became thick with tension. I could see royals wolf was seconds from bursting out, his eyes flashing red and his canines leaving a telling imprint in his lower lip. Most wolves would cower at the energy radiating off him, but as usual mine demonstrated a strange immunity, stilling my racing heart with her steely confidence, making my feet take two steps back to place us directly between Cal and Royal. Cal still hadnt moved and was calmly observing the scene unfold. Which in itself was remarkable as any other wolf is met would be ok the floor begging for mercy, not that mercy came often with Royal. ‘Care to explain?’ royal growled, the sarcasm dripping from his growing fangs as his eyes remained fixed and Cal abd deep blood red. ‘A traveller arrived yesterday… I went for a run and saw the weather coming in and found he intended to sleep outside… I offered him a sofa for the night.’ As I spoke I watched Royals nostrils flare, and shuddered. Normal wolves can smell a lot… enough to pick up the scent of one wolf on another… if wolves have mated it’s easy to detect their scents are intertwined for hours, sometimes days, after. While that should have reassured me it didn’t. Royal wasn’t an ordinary wolf, he could smell lies, smell fear, smell attraction… my only hope was that my wolfs confidence was stilling all my emotions and masking any scent of them. And even then it wasn’t beyond Royal to attack a male wolf for being in cave for any reason. My wolf was braced to protect Cal and I wondered calmly if she was signing our death warrant. Strangely though Royal didn’t attack, and though his eyes never left Cal his attention flickered back to the door, as if listening fir back up? Cal stood calmly, his frame still significantly smaller than Royal’s, ‘it’s been a while Red.’ And nodded his head in recognition at Royal. If it weren’t for my wolf now bring in full control of my body I would have hit the floor- ‘red’?? They knew each other ??
