Chapter Sixteen Newbury Traffic Office “Right, lads, if we can make a start, please!” Sergeant Trevor Cook shouted, rapping the top of his desk with a heavy glass ashtray. The room fell silent while he and the other four men in the office took their mugs of tea over to the oblong table situated in the centre of the room. They all sat down. In addition to the sergeant there were three uniformed constables and a civilian wearing a pair of mechanics overalls. Sgt Cook sat at the head of the table and opened the proceeding. “I think we all know one another,” he said, “So let’s get straight into it.
