“FIFTY eight, fifty nine, sixty…”
Wendy blinked as the time and date on her phone's screen changed.

‘Today's the day,’ she told herself. Her heart beat in the rhythm of nervousness inside her chest. She felt her stomach twisted into knots. She tried too hard to convince herself it was because of the quiz bee scheduled today, but at the back of her head, she knew it was because of what Kaiser had told her.
