Chapter Three
"Will I see you tomorrow?" Archie asked as he looked down at me.
His arms were around me, offering warmth and protection which only he could give.
"I still don't know," I admitted. "Maybe?"
He nodded. "That's not a no. I'll take it. For now."
Relief washed through me. He hadn't pushed me on the subject after we'd eaten, or even while we'd been walking back from the waterfall. But now we were saying goodbye, I could understand why he wanted to bring it up again. He needed it to be something I thought about while I made my way back home. And for the rest of the night.
"I promise, I'll think about it."
"That's good enough."
