Roach stepped aside allowing each member present for his announcement to come up and greet the new member and introduce themselves.  Noticing her hesitation, Roach nods at Mayah for encouragement. Even if she’s not a lead to Krista’s disappearance, she will be taken care of.  The daughter of the Devils. He thought...my daughter. It's been almost a month since Mayah was taken to stay with the Devils Angels.  Making her way down the steps she headed to the kitchen for some coffee. Today was the day Roach was going to meet with some tutor to test Mayah and have her start homeschooling.  He told her once he could find a way for her to go to school, he would send her after she confessed that she always wanted to go to school. Marco had private tutors and teachers for her but kept her closed off from the outside world.  Pouring her coffee, she sat at the table fingering the choker around her neck. The only thing she hasn't taken off yet.   “If you play with it, take it off”  said a voice behind her. Startled, Mayah swung around in the stool to see the face to go with the voice.  “I didn't mean to scare you,” he said walking around the kitchen island towards the coffee pot. “Its okay” she said watching him make his cup. “Why don't you take it off?” he asked as Roach and Doc came around the corner. “Take what off?” asked roach. “The thing on her neck” he responded. Roach tensed as he walked towards the coffee pot.  Hearing him point out the shock collar Mayah won't remove, he cleared his throat.  Mayah told a few of the men she kept it on out of fear. Out of fear and the fact that a special key is needed to get it off, the collar around her neck and a tattoo on both wrists that Mayah identified as her property brand were the only things that remained of her life before he brought her with him to the Devils.  “It will come off when she takes it off” Roach said with a stern tone. “Yeah,uh.. Yea.” said the man not knowing what to say.  “I didn't mean anything by it” he said giving a half hearted smile at Mayah.  “Im Chris.” he held his hand out to Mayah. “He’s a prospect”  Doc said walking around to get his coffee. Shaking his hand, she smiled.  She saw the fear in his face with Roach and Doc in the room.  She knew Chris didn't know about her past. He was a new recruit brought to the club by one of the Devils a couple of days ago.  She leaned back in her seat and continued to drink her coffee. She felt bad for Chris and decided to break the tension in the room.   “Roach, are we going to go to the store today?” she asked already knowing the answer.  Mayah isn't a prisoner but knows she can't leave without guards.   “Mayah-” Roach began.  “We’ve been over this. It's not safe yet.” “I know but-” “How about this?” Doc cut in.  “If you find two people to take you to the store, me and Roach will go.”  he smiled at Mayah. Watching the smile appear on her face he chuckled. As much as he despised the idea of her coming the first night, she made her way into his heart.  All their hearts. “Thank you!” she squealed bolting from the island towards the club room.  As she rounded the corner she bumped into a firm chest and stumbled back. “Sorry” she said quietly looking up.  Realizing it wasn't a familiar face, she took a cautious step back. “It's cool babe” said the man winking.  “Where's the fire?” he asked grinning. “Oh. Uh no fire” she said taking another step back.  “I was just leaving” she said turning to leave. “What a shame” he said walking behind her.  Following Mayah back to the kitchen cleared his throat hoping she would turn around.  With no luck he watched the girl walk to Roach and Doc. “Kace, welcome home.  I see you met Mayah” said Roach.  Kace just did time for a weapons charge.  He was the son of another MC president and decided to join the Devils Angels to spite his old man. “Mayah...nice to meet you.”  He said leaning on the island.  “Roach, we need to talk. There's been talk” “Kace,-” warned Roach. “You did a dumb thing getting picked up like that.”  Not wanting to get into detail with Mayah present, he turned towards Doc. “Doc, take Mayah out” he said giving him a glance.  Roach preferred that Mayah not leave the property but with what was about to be discussed, she couldn't be present. “Does that mean I don't have to test today?” she asked with a grin on her face.  She looked at Roach beaming.   “Not today.  Go wait in the front room.  Doc will be right out” he nodded at her.   “Roach, we decided she wouldn't leave.  Where am I supposed to take her?” he asked looking at Kace.  Doc was annoyed that Kace once again was causing a disturbance because of his gossip and behavior.   “I’ll take her out” sang Kace approaching an already annoyed Roach and Doc.  Without warning, Roach grabs Kace by the collar of his shirt and throws him back against the wall.  “Roach man-” “You will not disrespect or talk about her in that tone!”  Roach moved his hand from Kace’s shirt to his throat. “Your'e old man begged me not to toss you out on your ass after your last f**k up.  Let me make myself clear” he said in a low tone. “Mayah won't be taken anywhere by you. You screw up again Kace, and your old man won't be able to vouch for you again.” “Roach?”  came Mayah’s voice from behind.  Watching Kace gasp for air, she took a step back.   She wasn't supposed to see this thought Roach.  He turned to see fear in her eyes. The same fear she had the first night they met.  “Kid, listen-” she started to say taking a step towards her as she backed away. “Mayah, let me explain” he begged.  Looking between the three men, backing slowly towards the doorway, she turned and bolted up the stairs to her room.  Closing the door behind her and locking it, she decided to skip lunch and dinner fearing a consequence for witnessing Roach assaulting Kace.  Laying down under her covers, she cried herself to sleep, hoping that tomorrow would be better.
