Ruthie’s parents invite me to watch the wedding show at their house, but I decline their offer. I find that I want to watch it alone in my condo, without the interruptions of other people’s comments or the influence of their opinions.
The producers have a tendency to twist things around and creatively cut the footage to make things appear different than they actually are, so I want to view it alone to pair it with my own memories of what happened.
Besides, I remind myself, it’s not about me. It’s about Ruthie and Andrew’s big day. I am just a minor character on the sidelines of their wedding. The world wants to see them get their happily ever after ending. No one cares about what happens to me––except my mom, and apparently, Dave.
