Once I’m clean and presentable, I head out to find the others. Both Ruthie and Roxy seem frazzled, so I slide into my comfortable role of efficient taskmaster. I’m careful not to be too bossy, but I give everyone chores to follow-up on from my master list.
Grandmother Rose is the only one I don’t assign with a wedding prep task. She seems content to glare down her nose at the rest of us, and I don’t want to deal with her holier-than-thou attitude.
Jamie is also carrying a clipboard, and she seems to be actively avoiding me. I can’t help but wonder if her list of tasks is filled with items to throw the wedding off-kilter. Deciding that if that is the case, she is only complying with the sabotage to keep her job, I resolve to deal with any problems that arise calmly and rationally.
