24 When we reach the door for Roxy’s room, I raise my hand to knock on it. She and Kai are still relative newlyweds, but considering her fainting episode earlier, I’m assuming I won’t be interrupting a romantic interlude between them. Kai answers the door, but keeps the opening narrow. “Hi, I’m Roxy’s friend, Lizzie.” I tell him, inserting extra friendliness into my voice, since my reputation likely precedes me. His expression remains aloof, and he continues to block the doorway.
