6 The fact that the shower in the room Shay has loaned me only heats up to lukewarm is probably a blessing in disguise. I love to stand under a steamy, piping hot spray and let it relax my tense muscles, but that wouldn’t be the brightest move on this tropical island. Even though the water is tepid at best, the humid air has me sweating again as soon as I emerge from the bathroom. I wrap the room’s only towel––which I’m hoping is clean––around me and vow to never take air conditioning for granted again. Unable to stand the thought of my blow dryer, I decide to let the humidity take control of my unruly curly hair. I don’t bother with makeup, other than sunscreen and mascara, because the heat would melt anything more off in a matter of minutes. It won’t be the best look for my worldwide
