Chapter 44

Her face was full of bruises. She licked her split lips and got ready to get up. "MASTER!" A guard ran in, opening the door. Kedan turned to him. "What is it now?" The annoyance and anger was evident in his voice. The guard looked down, unable to hold his master's gaze. "Hayden has come," he mumbled in a low voice. Kedan's eyes widened. What was Hayden doing here at this time? "Tell him I'm busy," he gritted his teeth. "B-But master-" "Don't worry Kedan. I won't take much of your time" Kedan swiftly turned to the door, only to see Hayden casually walking in, with his hands in his pockets, like he was on a vacation. "You could have waited for me," Kedan uttered. Hayden looked around the room, busy in observing the cell. He shrugged. "Then I would have missed the show here." "This is not your business!" Kedan's voice was a bit higher. "Yes, it is not my business, but..." Hayden walked towards the door, and leaned on the wall, looking at Kedan's eyes, "...I too have suffered some losses at her hands." Kedan just stared at Hayden. He knew a lot about The Ghost. He knew that many powerful men have had losses because of The Ghost's work. But he had never expected Hayden, the dragon in the underworld, to be one of them. 'Wait......' Kedan frowned. "How do you know that she is here?" Hayden rolled his eyes. "I think you know well enough about me to not ask such a thing." Kedan's frown turned deeper. "You have sent spies here?" He took a threatening step towards Hayden, but stopped when Hayden continued to stare at him with his eyebrow raised, unfastened by Kedan. "Maybe, or maybe not! Spies aren't the only thing to get information here Kedan." "But that's not the point. I have a small favour to ask," Hayden said, rolling his sleeves up and shaking his wrist to get his watch in place. Kedan raised his eyebrow. "You have a favour to ask from me?" He said dryly, but Hayden could detect the well hidden surprise in those words. "Now that you have had your fun, mind letting me have some?" Hayden smirked. "What would I get in return?" Kedan asked, amused. "Something that worth a lot." Kedan laughed. "Would you mind being a bit more specific?" "Oh yes, I would mind." The two of them shared a long look. Kedan knew that Hayden was a man of his words in deals. He knew that Hayden was a powerful one, and he couldn't risk anything now by rejecting his request. "She is all yours!"
