“Piss off. The entire security department was given explicit instructions not to let you in. So get out of here before I make an example out of you,” Bernard coldly remarked.
“Please, just help me reach out to Alicia. I need to speak with her.” Claudia pleaded, hoping that Bernard would understand based on their previous interactions.
Unfortunately for her, she underestimated how shameless Bernard was.
“You want to speak to her?”
“Yes.”
“Fine then, there's a little space over there, right?” Bernard intoned while pointing in a certain direction.
“Okay?”
“As long as you can go over there with me and show me what your tongue is capable of, then I might be able to put in a word or two.”
Realizing what Bernard meant, Claudia grew furious as she glared at him. “Disgusting!”
“Hmmph, since you don't want to do it, get out of my sight,” Bernard remarked in annoyance as he shoved Claudia back, hoping for her to get hurt.
Imagine his surprise when, instead of her falling to the ground, she fell into the arms of another.
Claudia glanced back to find Nathan standing behind her with a cold expression.
“Nathan?... You followed me?”
Nathan calmly replied. “For good reason, it seems mom was right to be worried. Thankfully, I came right on time.”
Noticing the way Nathan was glaring at him, Bernard got scared, but then he recalled that he was in an important position.
Since he was Alicia's subordinate, touching him was the same as looking for death.
No one would dare to harm him.
Due to this, he grew even bolder as he remarked. “Best get out of my sight, else I'll show you what I'm capable of.”
“What you need is a good beating.” Nathan intoned as he helped Claudia to her feet before closing the distance to deliver a hot slap to Bernard's cheeks, sending him to the ground in an instant.
“Are you insane?” Claudia exclaimed in disbelief as she rushed to push Nathan back.
Bernard was stunned as he muttered shakily. “You hit me?”
“And I'd do it again if you don't learn how to address women.”
“You bastard!” Bernard exploded with rage as he jumped to his feet while wiping the blood from his face. “If I don't teach you a lesson today, my name is not Bernard!”
Saying that, Bernard called for backup with several security guards running to his aid.
Claudia grew terrified, but Nathan remained calm as he waited for Bernard to make his move.
Unsurprisingly, Bernard took the lead, but before he could even hit Nathan, he got slapped again, but that wasn't all. Nathan pulled him closer and then punched him in the gut, causing him to howl in pain.
The other guards immediately froze at the sight, with Claudia too stunned to speak as she was torn between shock that Nathan had managed to take down Bernard so easily and the fact that he had worsened the conflict with Alicia.
However, after much thought, she quickly picked which was more important as she scolded Nathan. “Have you lost your mind?... We came here to make peace, yet you go and make things worse!”
“Don't worry; by the time I'm done today, there will be no reason to fear Alicia Bond,” Nathan assured, but all that did was infuriate Claudia as she slapped him across the face.
“Who do you think you are to say such?... Do you know how powerful the Bond family is?... You think you'd be able to make a difference?”
Nathan calmly intoned. “Trust me, Claudia, I can solve this.”
“You can't so stop making things worse!” Claudia bellowed before adding. “Now leave!”
“But…”
“Get out right now!”
Nathan stared at Claudia, the latter of whom was disappointed in him for what she saw as him making things worse.
“Alright then.” Nathan intoned, but instead of leaving, he made his way into the building with Claudia being unable to stop him.
After everything, all she could do was chase after him.
Inside the building, the meeting hall was filled with several business executives.
Nathan went to sit in a corner with Claudia following him.
“What are you doing?”
“Sit.” Nathan gestured to a chair beside him with Claudia glaring at him.
“Why are you so troublesome?”
Nathan glanced at her. “Sit.”
“...” Gritting her teeth, Claudia finally sat down and just then, the enemy revealed herself.
Alicia appeared on stage, earning the attention of everyone present.
Seeing the woman who had ruined her, Claudia could only stare in deep thought.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please quiet down, I have an announcement.” Alicia began in a proud tone. “News reaching me is that, the War God will be attending our meeting today, so please let's wait for his arrival.”
Naturally, the news shocked everyone, as who did not know the might of the War God who had triumphed in the south?
“That great figure is attending our meeting?”
“Unbelievable. But why?”
“What do you mean why?... He most likely has an eye for Miss Alicia. After all, isn't she worthy of such a man?”
“Indeed.”
As everyone continued to discuss the news, Nathan waited patiently, aware that wasting his time talking would not change anything.
No one would be able to believe that he was the War God, so it was best to wait for General Sloan to arrive to clear the air.
Just then, Alicia noticed Claudia among those seated, causing her expression to shift.
Claudia met her gaze and immediately, tensions arose.
Alicia quickly got off-stage and approached her. “What are you doing here?... I thought I told Bernard specifically to not let trash like you in?”
“You did.” Claudia intoned. “But I'm not here to exchange words with you today, Alicia.”
“Oh really?”
“You've made your point, you've won. Please, take back the false accusations you made against me so I can reclaim my company.”
Silence followed and then, everyone burst into laughter, mocking Claudia for being so foolish.
