HADES NARRATING
As much as I am at my parents' house, I only come here to resolve some pending issues, but sometimes I regret coming. Sometimes I don't have the patience to tolerate Ruby; she sometimes makes me very irritated. She keeps throwing herself at me, as if I were desperate for a woman. She is one of the people who still clings to me; there are others, but I give few any attention. I pushed my thoughts aside and went to my desk. I practically have an office inside my room here at my parents' house, which is good. Lately, I live only for work, and that's what I've been focusing on. The hatred I have for some women is so strong that I don't think about anything; I just end up reacting in the way I know, defending myself from their advances. My mother says that no one is to blame if someone hurt me deeply one day, but I don't want to know. I chose to bury myself in my work and to build up the company my parents gave me more each day. Just as with the properties they are putting in my name, I end up being surprised by everything they have done for me. Of course, my brother also has some things, but not everything like I do. I came out of my thoughts while staring at that computer screen when I heard someone knocking on the door.
"Come in," I say, and the door opens. Soon, my mother appears there, with a smile on her lips.
"My son, I came here because Ruby wanted to say goodbye to you. She's already leaving," she said, and Ruby appears behind her.
"I hope I'm not bothering you," she said, with a cynical look.
"You never bother," my mother says, and I end up giving an ironic laugh.
"Hey, Ruby," I say as she smiles in my direction.
"I just came to say goodbye, I'm heading home," she says. "I'll be at the party tomorrow, so I need to go and rest my beauty," she informs, which makes me stifle a laugh.
"Alright, go ahead. See you later!" I say, and my mother gives me a look. Ruby walks towards me, and as she approaches, she gives me a kiss on the cheek, but I pull my face away. She ends up looking a bit embarrassed.
"See you tomorrow," she says with a smile on her lips.
"See you later!" I say, and she walks away. She says goodbye to my mother and then leaves the room. My mother accompanies her. I open some files on my computer screen and start analyzing them until my father enters the room.
"Good evening, son," he says as he walks in. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything," he says gently.
"Of course not, Dad. I was just analyzing some files with documents," I inform him, turning my chair to face him.
"Son, I'd like to talk to you. Your mother is on her way, and we wanted to have a little conversation," he says, and I can already imagine what he wants to discuss.
"I'll be here to listen," I say, looking at him. "I want to inform you that we closed the deal with South Korea today. They will be great for publicity and everything else," I inform, and my father smiles.
"I'm glad the project you worked on succeeded, and I'm sure many others you do will also be successful," my father says. At this moment, my mother enters the room.
"I'm here, my love," she says, referring to my father. "We can talk now," she says, sitting in the chair near my desk.
"Yes, my dear," says my father.
"I can already imagine what you want to talk to me about," I say, looking at them.
"My son, it's time for you to forget what happened years ago and focus on the present," said my mother.
"I agree with your mother, my son. You need to find a wife," says my father. I remain silent, just listening to what they are saying. "And together with your mother, we were thinking that you could try to marry Ruby or even Lily," he concludes.
"Yes, my boy, they are from good families and could make excellent wives, whichever one you choose," said my mother.
"Alright, I listened to you, and now I will speak," I say, taking a deep breath before I have a nervous breakdown. "For many years, I've been living well the way I am, enjoying my life as I see fit," I tell them, and they shake their heads.
They continued to talk a bit more with me, but I just listened and didn't want to argue. I made it clear that if I ever fall in love with someone or if someone comes into my life, I will introduce them, but I asked them not to interfere in my life or my choices. They understood and left my room. I stayed there a while longer until I grabbed my things, left the room, walked down the hallway to the stairs, and then went down. When I reached the living room, I went to where I had parked my car. I didn't say goodbye to my parents because they were already in their room. When I got to my car, my driver offered to take me home, but I told him it was better for him to stay in case my parents needed him. So I got in the car, started it up, and drove out of my parents' mansion's large garden. I hit the highway, driving calmly, with my thoughts wandering. I kept driving until I finally reached the gated community where I live. I passed through the security gates and drove to my house. When I arrived in front of my house, I drove my car into the garage. I preferred to drive myself; it helps me think and reflect on many things. Once I parked the car in the garage, I grabbed my things, got out of the car, and walked to the door that leads into my house. I entered the code on the door, and went inside. My housekeeper was still awake.
"Good evening, sir, welcome," she said gently.
"Good evening, Anne," I say, and she smiles.
"Do you need anything?" she asks, looking at me. I shake my head, then head to the stairs and go up to the upper floor. Once in the hallway, I go to my room. When I reached the door, I opened it and entered. After entering, I locked the door, went to my desk, and placed my things on it. After leaving everything there, I went to the bathroom, started taking off my clothes, and put them in the laundry basket. I then entered the shower, turned on the water, and started taking a quick shower because I was already feeling tired. When I finished, I grabbed a towel, wrapped it around myself, and left the shower. I went to the sink, brushed my teeth, and after finishing, left the bathroom. I entered the closet, grabbed a pair of underwear, put it on, returned to the bathroom to hang up the towel, and then left. I went to my bed, lay down, and spent some time thinking until I fell asleep.
The next morning, I woke up to my alarm clock, got dressed, and went for my usual morning run. After my run, I returned home, and my housekeeper was already waiting for me.
"Good morning, Carmen," I greet her and go straight to my room. Once inside, I head directly to the bathroom, take off my sweaty clothes, and take a shower. After a while, I finish my shower, leave the bathroom, go to the closet, grab a suit, get dressed, and leave my room. I go to the dining room, and when I arrive, the table is already set.
"Good morning, sir," she says gently. "I'll serve you now," she says, then starts serving me. I still have time to go to the company; there's nothing important today, but I need to organize some things and get everything in order, after all, today there's a celebration for my parents at the Palace.
Carmen is a very kind lady, although she isn't exactly elderly, but I have always respected her according to her age. I'm very happy to have her with me here because before having her, there were other people who tried for the position, but I didn't want to keep any of them. I experimented with a few, but the only one who did everything right and still does is Mrs. Carmen. After a good while, I finally finished my coffee, said goodbye to her, then went back to my room, grabbed my things, and returned downstairs. As I was heading to the garage, my driver appeared. He explained that my parents wouldn't need him, so he came to serve me, which I thought was good. I went to the car, got in, he started the car, and then he began driving. I picked up my phone and started checking it. I received some messages on w******p from my brother, saying he would come to the company only in the second hour, and only because he needed to sign some papers for his department. I agreed with him and let him do what he wanted, since there was nothing too important today. It didn't take long for us to reach the company. As soon as we arrived, he stopped the car in front of it, I got out with my briefcase in hand, and went to the elevator. I waited for a while, and then it opened. Some people entered the elevator with me, I exchanged a few words with some employees, and then they got off at their floors. As soon as my floor opened, I got out and went to my office, put my things away, and started looking at some matters on the computer that needed to be resolved. After a while, Lucia knocked on the door and came in. She then introduced me to the new secretary. I looked at that woman with an angelic face, fair skin, and a very beautiful body, quickly recomposed myself, averted my gaze, and told them to leave my office. I got up and went to the large windows of my office, looking out over all of Manhattan.
