Aki started the car and slowly drove off the parking space as we waved at Mom until she was out of our sight. I stopped waving and settled comfortably on the front seat. “Are you okay?” Aki asked me. “Yeah, I guess so,” I said as I turned to him. “Why?” “Nothing,” He said. “I just thought that this would be difficult for you, you know, leaving.” “It is,” I said. “But that’s how life is; you just gotta sail along with it if you don’t want to drown.” He nodded and didn’t say another word.
