At twenty-eight, Shair Dil Khan—the powerful, composed, and unreadable heir of Khan Haveli—steps into Lahore National University as a student. On the surface, he is polite, respectful, and quiet. But beneath that calm exterior lies a dangerous determination.

At thirty-three, Professor Mehrimal Aizal, the brilliant and uncompromising Head of the English Department, is a woman of strict discipline. She doesn't believe in power; she only believes in respect.

But when Shair Dil walks into her classroom, the air changes. For the first time in ten years of teaching, Mehrimal meets a student who refuses to be read. What she doesn’t know is that his enrollment isn't a pursuit of education—it is a pursuit of her.

A tale of silent gazes, dark secrets, an intense age-gap, and a forced union bound by a vow that was written in tears. Can love survive when the foundation is built on revenge?

A Sovereign Of Retribution
In the deep, distant darkness of the night, the eerie chirping of crickets filled the cold silence. Inside the room, despite the icy draft of the air conditioner, Mehrimal Ezel’s entire being was drenched in a cold, suffocating sweat. She had imagined this night countless times in her life, dreaming of a beautiful, gentle bond filled with love. But never in her worst nightmares had she envisioned her destiny culminating in such a terrifying reality. Suddenly, heavy, measured footsteps echoed from the corridor outside. Her breath caught in her throat. Squeezing her eyes shut, she prayed from the depths of her soul for death to claim her before that door opened. She begged the Almighty for a miracle, but deep down, she knew that the storm heading her way was too ruthless—it would reduce her very existence to ashes. With a loud, definitive bang, the door burst open. Sher Dil Khan stepped into the room. He wasn't dressed as a groom. Instead, he wore a casual shirt and jeans, his jaw shadowed by a thick, rugged stubble. His eyes, bloodshot and swollen from days of sleeplessness, burned with a pure, feral hatred that instantly locked onto Mehrimal’s trembling, bowed figure. Without breaking eye contact, he slammed the door shut behind him, the force of it vibrating through the walls. He strode toward the side table, picked up the glass pitcher, poured a glass of water, and downed it in a single, aggressive gulp. Slowly, he unclasped his expensive wristwatch and placed it on the table with a sharp click—a sound that echoed like a ticking time bomb. His dark eyes raked over Mehrimal, who sat paralyzed with sheer terror. She was clad in a simple blue dress, her face entirely devoid of makeup. Her eyes, much like his, were painfully swollen and red from hours of relentless weeping. "So, the great Professor Mehrimal is finally silent," Sher Dil sneered, his deep voice dripping with venomous sarcasm. "Where did all that pride and dignity go, the ones you wore like a shield while walking the university corridors?" "Sher Dil... please," Mehrimal choked out, her voice a shattered whisper as she tightly clutched the fabric of her simple blue dress. "You know that whatever happened, I had nothing to do with it. It was an accident..." "An accident?" Sher Dil let out a low, menacing chuckle that sent a shiver straight down Mehrimal’s spine. He began to step toward her, his fingers slowly and deliberately unbuttoning his shirt. The terrifying calmness in his movements was suffocating. With every step he took, the air in the room grew thinner. Before Mehrimal could retreat or even think of fleeing, Sher Dil’s hand shot forward like lightning, his fingers clamping down on her jaw in a brutal, unyielding grip. A sharp cry of pain escaped Mehrimal's lips. "Ah! Sher Dil, let me go... it hurts!" Desperately, she clawed at his iron-like fingers, trying to pry his hand away from her face, but he didn't budge even an inch. With a sudden, powerful shove, he threw her back. Mehrimal lost her balance entirely, crashing onto the heavy velvet sheets of the bed. "Hurts?" In the next second, Sher Dil loomed over her, pinning her down with his massive, imposing frame and pinning her wrists to the mattress so tightly that any hope of escape evaporated. "You don't even know what real pain is yet, Professor." "You are a cruel, heartless monster, Sher Dil!" Mehrimal shrieked, tears blinding her vision as she stared up at the student who had now become her merciless captor. "You may force me into this Nikah, you may lock me away here, but you will receive nothing from me but eternal hatred!" "I never asked for your love, Mehrimal. In fact, I never even imagined that the woman in my bed would be someone whose very existence, whose face, I utterly loathe," he hissed, his face hovering mere inches from hers, his hot, ragged breath fanning over her trembling skin. "But you brought this upon yourself. Because of your family’s sins, my sister's unborn child was lost. She lost her baby because of you... and now, you will heal the legacy you broke." "No... please, Sher Dil, don't do this..." "You will endure this humiliation every single day of your life, because you deserve far worse," he whispered with dark finality. His grip tightened, asserting his absolute authority as her husband, his ruthless thirst for vengeance drowning out her desperate cries. Throughout that long, endless night, the room was filled with Mehrimal’s muffled sobs and broken gasps. But Sher Dil was entirely blinded by his merciless quest for revenge. He claimed his rights with an unrelenting intensity, taking Mehrimal’s resistance as a challenge he was destined to break. It was only when the first faint rays of the morning sun began to filter through the window curtains that he finally, exhausted by his own fury, fell into a deep sleep beside her. As the morning light spilled into the room, Mehrimal lay there, utterly shattered. Burying her face deep into her tear-soaked pillow, she wept silently in the cold shadows of humiliation and fear. With the first ray of the morning sun, silence finally descended upon the room, but the darkness in Mehrimal’s life had grown deeper than ever. That night, it wasn't just a forced bond imposed upon them... it was the beginning of a war where both would have to pay the price of their very existence as ransom. [ To Be Continued.....]
