"Congratulations, Miss Lin. You are one week pregnant."
Before the woman seated across from the doctor could respond, the door suddenly burst open and a man in a perfectly tailored suit strode inside.
He was Xu Cheng, the personal assistant her father had assigned to monitor her every move. The corners of Lin Xinyue's lips curled into a frosty smile. In the past, she had believed that the reason Xu Cheng, her father's most trusted assistant, stayed by her side was for her protection.
However, he had secretly been behind everything she had worked so hard for being ruined. He was nothing more than a spy planted by her sister, hiding in the shadows while keeping a close watch on her.
Xu Cheng had served the Lin family for many years. Already in his thirties, he was deeply trusted by her father. So trusted that when Lin Xinyue once suspected him of leaking her designs, her father refused to believe a single word against him.

Lin Xinyue gently rubbed the jade bangle around her wrist. She slowly closed her eyes. After a long moment, she opened them again.

"Take me to the Gu residence."
Lin Xinyue lazily opened one eye and stared at Xu Cheng, who remained motionless. Her brows furrowed as she met his gaze through the rearview mirror.
"Are you deaf? I said take me to the Gu residence."
"But Miss Lin, you live at the Lin residence."
"My sister passed away only a month ago. Can't I visit her daughter and check on her as a caring aunt? Or are you planning to disobey me? Should I call my father and tell him you're no longer useful?"
Xu Cheng stiffened immediately. "Yes, Miss Lin." He apologized at once and started the car.
