The soldier took her into a large tent, where a couple of luxury couches stood on a soft carpet. A fire burned in an open heater in the middle. A man sat in a chair facing the door. It was Nayek. “Here she is, Your Highness,” the soldiers said. “Good. You can go now.” The men bowed, leaving Zaina alone with Nayek. He spent a long time just looking at her. His light grey eyes roamed over her body, coming to rest more than once on her chest. Zaina’s heart thudded in her throat. She did her best to stare ahead, and not let her gaze stray to his spade-sized hands or other parts of him, and imagine what he was going to do to her.
