Chapter 6

Enzo POV Enzo saw Alastor walk out of the kitchen, and he instantly knew where his little minx was. He could smell her scent. Alastor gave Enzo a sharp nod as he walked past him and into the kitchen. Enzo was paralyzed in his place as he looked at Amelia. The back of the dress showed all of Amelia’s curves – and all in the right places. “What a view” Enzo thought as he smirked and enjoyed the full clean view of Amelia. “p*****t. Get your head out of your ass”, Marco laughs, teasing his partner. Shaking his head after a few seconds, he took a breath and pulled himself together. Looking up at two other omegas around Amelia, he saw that they looked at Amelia with a bored expression and were not bored with another omega joining the group. “We have a new omega member,” Elara stated excitedly. Enzo couldn’t help but laugh at her cheerfulness. Elara had been working at the state for over 25 years, even before Enzo was born. She was one of the first Omegas that Enzo's father brought to this pack territory. And over the years, she has shown and proven her complete loyalty to her Alpha and pack. Though she worked in the omega area, her status overpowers all that. Enzo and all the others looked up to Elara as a mother. Their mother. “We don’t need another omega,” Mina said, her tone snarky. This is where Enzo decided to make his presence known. “Actually you do.” Of course, they didn’t, but that was not the matter. If Enzo declared that they needed one, then it was done. No questions asked or else they suffer in pain. Enzo had zero tolerance for people demanding something from him and wouldn’t think twice to kick them out. His words were the law. Enzo sent the two young omegas a glare. They instantly bowed their heads in submission as an apology and respect for their Alpha. “That’s better”. Marco states authoritatively. Enzo agreed. Elara turned around to face Enzo as her hands rested on her hips. But Enzo was not looking at her. He stared at the innocent little girl standing next to her who had his full attention. Her body became tense at the sound of his voice and moved nervously on her feet. And Enzo observed all that. He also saw that she was trembling under his gaze. His presence had a huge effect on her. “ Amelia is going to work with you all. Elara, you will assign her work and make her schedule”, Enzo continued as his eyes were fixed on Amelia. Enzo could not help himself while he looked over her figure. He was aroused by it. “i***t! Get your head straight!” March shouts at Enzo again. Amelia sucked in a deep breath and took a step back. She saw Enzo's desire for her, it was written all over his face and, in fact did not hide it. Enzo saw Amelia as a game, his game. Let’s make her see, not so much. Let her feel, but not as much. Enzo saw Elara giving him a curious look and then turning to Amelia. Enzo took that moment to walk out of the kitchen. Enzo thought about giving her a week to settle in, and to pull herself together. Then he will corner her, like a wolf successful in catching its prey. Amelia POV When Enzo left the kitchen, Amelia released a breath of relief. Elara noticed this, and looked strangely at her. “Everything alright?” Elara asked Amelia as she nodded in response. Amelia's emotions were overwhelming her. She didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, or fall down. It was all too much for her at once. Elara didn’t push the matter further. Amelia gave a small smile to her, to reassure Elara that she was fine. She introduced Amelia to the other two young omegas in the kitchen. “This is Amelia.” Elara introduced Amelia, mainly indicating to the raven-haired girl, Mina, who continued to give Amelia a blank stare. Amelia nodded in greeting. “And this Mina and Ivy.” Amelia looked at Ivy. She had caramel skin and brunette hair tied into a fishtail braid on the side. “Welcome.” Ivy greeted Amelia softly, compared to Mina, who was rude. Amelia felt a little relaxed, since there were two out of three people who accepted her rather than raise their guns. “Great, now that the introductions are done, both of you get back to your work,” Elara ordered the girls in a stern voice. Both women nodded and returned to their duties. Elara grabbed Amelia's arm very gently and pulled her towards the bar tools lined next to the counter. “Here, sit. Did you have breakfast?” Elara asked Amelia as she turned towards the fridge. Amelia was about to shake her head not when she released Elara back to her. “No,” Amelia answers. Elara heard and pulled out various ingredients from the fridge. Amelia sat up to help her but Elara told her to remain seated. Amelia followed her order and sat down obediently and waited for her next instructions. As Elara was making breakfast, she was talking about random things with excitement to Amelia, like she hadn’t had an open conversation with someone in a while. She was talking about quite a few things, and it was a little difficult for Amelia to keep up with. There were times when Amelia thought that whatever she was saying didn’t make sense, or was confusing. Elara even talked about how her life working here has been, her experience with the members and other omegas. Amelia came to know through Elara’s talk that she was the young omega here. “Enzo never places young girls in omega positions. He believes that they are not compatible.” Amelia didn’t want to explain her situation to her, nor how she even arrived here. She figured it was best to leave her under the assumption that she best understood. Therefore, Amelia didn’t say a word, and continued to relax herself. Her tense shoulders were beginning to loosen up, and let her legs dangle at ease. Amelia moved her elbows on the marble counter with her fingers crossing one another. Elara's voice was really soothing Amelia, and she smiled as Elara continued. Amelia understood through Elara’s talking that she was a very sweet old lady, and adored by many pack members of this house. Amelia had wondered that if this was Enzo house, then where was the pack house? Amelia waved that curious thought out of her head. She knew that it would be best to remain silent and not attract too much unwanted attention that would bring the Alpha, Beta and Delta into suspicion. Amelia didn’t know how long she sat there with her thoughts as she smiled to Elara, but eventually Elara bought a tray full of different foods and laid it in front of Amelia. “Dig in, my dear.” The tray smelled of different foods: toast, bagel, scrambled eggs with bread, bacon, baked potato, salt and pepper, a small bowl of cut-up mixed fruits and a tall glass of orange juice. Amelia looked at the tray wide-eyed, and she looked at Elara. In return, Elara just gave her a soft expression. Amelia's eyes began to sting her with tears as she could not believe the amount of food she was being served. It was unreal for her. Back at Victor’s house, no one had ever questioned Amelia if she had eaten or much less prepared food for her. Victor had many omegas in his pack, but Amelia was always separated in all standards. Sure, Victor had a lot of food stored in his pack, but Amelia was allowed only a certain amount each day. Nobody ever cared if she ate or not, her presence was always non-existent. I lived like a shadow. Not just when she lived in Victor’s territory, but it was also the same as when Amelia lived with Argus. Amelia's heart ached with warmth and the utensils of her shaky hands. As Amelia took he first bite, a hot teardrop fell from her eye and down her cheek. She quickly swiped it away with her other hand and continued to eat her meal. Amelia took another bite, and then another and her heart was filled with warmth and joy. Food had never tasted this good in her life. When Elara gently took Amelia’s free hand in hers, she gave her a sad smile and nodded. Almost in an understanding, but most importantly, that gesture was made to assure Amelia of her acceptance. Elara had accepted Amelia. Elara let go of Amelia’s hands and let her continue to eat, while she turned around and filled other plates. Amelia looked back at her food, and then her hand. That gesture was the kindest gesture Amelia had received in her life. Amelia days were spent locked away in either dungeons, her room, or doing chores around the packhouse. Her days and nights were filled with terrors. She never knew what kindness even looked like. Or what it was even. But that small gesture that came from Elara, Amelia saw that, this was kindness. Pure love, kindness and acceptance for the first time.
