Amelia Hart came to Blackwood University for one reason only — to survive.

As a scholarship student surrounded by the children of billionaires, politicians, and powerful families, she quickly learns one rule:

Never cross Roman Knight.

Feared by students and protected by influence, Roman rules Blackwood like a king with a perfect smile and a dangerous temper. Nobody challenges him. Nobody says no to him.

Until Amelia humiliates him in front of the entire class.

What begins as hatred soon turns into something darker — obsession, secrets, late-night confrontations, and a dangerous attraction neither of them can control.

But Blackwood University hides more than elite students and luxury lifestyles.

Someone is watching Amelia.

Someone wants her gone.

And Roman may be the only person dangerous enough to keep her alive.

In a world filled with lies, betrayal, and power games, falling for the wrong person could destroy her completely.

His Seat
Rain poured heavily across the city, turning the streets dark and blurry behind the taxi window. Amelia Hart sat quietly in the backseat, gripping the strap of her old backpack tightly while anxiety twisted painfully in her stomach. Blackwood University. Just hearing the name was enough to make people stare. The university wasn’t built for ordinary people. Everybody knew that. It was where the children of politicians, billionaires, celebrities, and powerful families went to study while the rest of the world watched from a distance. And somehow… she had ended up there. Amelia swallowed hard as the huge black gates slowly appeared ahead through the rain. The university looked more like a palace than a school. Tall buildings towered proudly beneath the grey sky while expensive cars lined the entrance. Students dressed in designer clothes walked confidently through the campus with umbrellas covering their perfectly styled hair. Everything looked polished. Perfect. Rich. Completely different from the world Amelia came from. The taxi stopped at the front gate. “We’re here,” the driver said. Amelia blinked and quickly reached into her pocket for money. She handed him the last cash she had left after paying part of her mother’s hospital bills the night before. “Thank you,” she murmured softly. The driver nodded before driving away immediately. Amelia stood alone outside the gate, rain soaking the sleeves of her oversized hoodie almost instantly. For a moment, she simply stared. This place could change her life. Or destroy it completely. She adjusted her backpack and began walking toward the entrance while students brushed past her without sparing her a second glance. Some laughed loudly. Some spoke on expensive phones. Others stared down at luxury watches as if time itself belonged to them. Amelia suddenly became very aware of her faded sneakers. She looked down quickly. One of the soles was slightly loose. Perfect. First day already looking poor. She sighed quietly and continued walking. Her phone vibrated inside her pocket. Mom. Amelia answered immediately. “Mom?” “Did you reach safely?” her mother asked weakly. Amelia softened instantly at the sound of her voice. “Yeah. I just got here.” “You should’ve eaten before leaving.” “I wasn’t hungry.” That was a lie. The truth was that she had skipped breakfast to save money. Again. “You need to take care of yourself too, Amelia,” her mother continued gently. “You can’t keep carrying everything alone.” Amelia’s chest tightened painfully. If only her mother knew how exhausted she truly felt. Night shifts at the café. Hospital bills. School pressure. Barely sleeping. Sometimes she felt like she was drowning quietly while pretending to breathe normally. But she couldn’t afford to break down. Not now. “I’m okay, Mom.” “You always say that.” Amelia forced a small smile. “Because I am.” Silence lingered briefly before her mother spoke again. “I’m proud of you.” Those words hit Amelia harder than expected. For a second, emotion burned behind her eyes. She looked away quickly before anyone noticed. “I have class soon,” she whispered. “Alright. Call me later.” “I will.” The call ended. Amelia exhaled slowly before slipping her phone back into her pocket. Then she walked deeper into Blackwood University. Everything inside looked expensive. Huge glass walls. Marble floors. Modern lights hanging from the ceiling. Even the students looked expensive. Groups gathered around laughing loudly while others walked confidently through the halls like they owned the world. Amelia felt invisible among them. And honestly? That was fine. Invisible meant safe. Her scholarship already made her stand out enough. She didn’t need more attention. She stopped beside a large board hanging on the wall and searched quickly for her classroom. Political Science Hall B. Second floor. Great. She hurried upstairs carefully while students pushed past her impatiently. By the time she finally reached the lecture hall, she was already late. Fantastic. Amelia pushed the door open quietly— —and froze. Silence. The entire lecture hall was silent. Over fifty students sat inside the large room, yet nobody was talking. Nobody. It felt strange. Wrong. Amelia frowned slightly as dozens of eyes turned toward her. Some students looked confused. Others looked nervous. One girl near the front even looked horrified. Why were they staring like that? Embarrassed already, Amelia lowered her gaze and searched for an empty seat quickly. Then she spotted one near the middle row. Thank God. Without thinking too much about it, she walked toward the seat while whispers suddenly spread across the room. “Who is she?” “She actually sat there.” “Oh my God…” “She’s finished.” Amelia slowed slightly. Finished? Before she could ask what they meant, she sat down carefully and placed her notebook on the desk. The whispers only grew louder. A guy sitting nearby stared at her with pity. “You should move,” he muttered under his breath. Amelia blinked. “Why?” The guy looked nervous instantly and shook his head fast. “Never mind.” Okay… That was weird. Very weird. Amelia glanced around the room again. Nobody looked relaxed. In fact, most students looked terrified. Then suddenly— Footsteps echoed outside the hall. Slow. Calm. Heavy. The atmosphere changed immediately. Conversations died instantly. Several students straightened nervously in their seats while others avoided looking toward the door completely. Amelia frowned in confusion. Who exactly was coming? The door opened. And he walked in. Tall. Cold. Terrifyingly calm. A black coat rested over his broad shoulders while droplets of rain clung to his dark hair. His face looked sharp enough to cut glass, but it was his eyes that made Amelia tense instinctively. Dark. Unreadable. Dangerous. The entire room seemed to shrink around him. Nobody spoke. Nobody breathed too loudly. Even the lecturer standing near the board looked uncomfortable. Amelia felt her pulse quicken slightly. Who was this guy? Then she remembered the whispers she had heard before transferring here. Roman Knight. The most feared student in Blackwood University. Rumors followed him everywhere. Rich family. Violence. Power. Influence. Some students claimed he once got a professor fired after an argument. Others said people disappeared after crossing him. Amelia had ignored most of those rumors because they sounded ridiculous. Now? She wasn’t so sure anymore. Roman walked calmly through the lecture hall while students moved their legs away from his path immediately. No one dared touch him. No one dared speak to him. Then his gaze landed on Amelia. Everything inside her tightened. His eyes slowly moved toward the seat beneath her. And the silence inside the room became unbearable. Oh. Oh no. That was when Amelia realized the problem. She was sitting in his seat. Roman stared at her expressionlessly for a few seconds that somehow felt much longer. Then one corner of his mouth tilted slightly. Not a smile. Something colder. More dangerous. The lecturer cleared his throat nervously. “Miss Hart, perhaps you should—” Roman raised one hand slightly. The lecturer shut up immediately. Amelia stared in disbelief. Did this guy control the lecturers too? Roman’s dark eyes returned to hers. “You’re new,” he said calmly. It wasn’t a question. Amelia swallowed but forced herself to remain composed. “Yes.” Another heavy silence followed. The entire room watched them carefully like they were waiting for an explosion. Roman stepped closer slowly. Close enough for Amelia to notice the faint scar near his eyebrow. Close enough for her to smell rain and expensive cologne. His voice remained calm. Too calm. “You’re sitting in my seat.”
