Lena POV
The next day, Ryker was in the kitchen, making breakfast. I was having a long hot shower. Washing up and thinking about King Finn's realm. His realm is not like Earth, that's for sure.
In his realm, there are tons of many different types of faeries everywhere. The smallest ones look like sparkles, like the kind of sparkles you would see at nighttime in the snow. Others are so fast that you can't see them at all, but you can feel them go by you, like the wind. When they do slow down, they're the size of a pinky finger. Little tiny faces with black eyes, I was told they manipulate the wind, which makes sense, considering that is what they feel like when they zoom past you. Other faeries are the size of Barbies, they're a good-looking bunch and so colorful. Others are as big as dwarfs, or maybe they are dwarfs. They stand about less than 3 feet tall. Then the bigger faeries who prefer to be called elves are human-sized. The king also said that there are water faeries of many different shapes. When I asked if mermaids were part of the fae, the king laughed and told me that I should never say that out loud by the ocean. The mermaids are proud and vicious creatures, they wouldn't like hearing anyone calling them fae.
All faeries have many different purposes. If you've ever watched Tinkerbell, that movie was pretty close to what faeries do. They keep the forest growing. When trees get old, they work together to take it down for firewood. They all live underground or in trees, but the king and his family live in a huge castle made out of stone. The firewood goes to his castle to keep them warm. There are more fae that are human size, like the king. They live in the castle or around the area with their own homes that they built themselves. They regrow everything they use to build their homes. The forests also look a little different than Earth's, the trees are all full and lush, and even the grass is thick and not overly overgrown and messy. The trees also have this glow to them at the tree trunks. Some glow purple or pink. The grass also is all a dark green, it also has a glowing blue tint to it, the flowers though are magnificent to look at. There are many different sizes and colors, everything in the fae realm seems to glow it all. The King said their soil was filled with magic. When I asked where it came from, he wouldn't say, he said only the fae is allowed to know where their magic comes from. The only thing he said was that the royals are the only ones who are made of pure magic, which is why he's so powerful. Each king passes down their magic to the next ruling king, which means the next king after him, will be even more powerful. He knows where everyone is in his realm at all times, they also communicate with a mind link. So cool. I stayed for two days with them learning what I was allowed to learn.
I have visited the Fae king Finn and his queen Freya. They had their children before mine were born, they had a boy and a girl who were older than my triplets by a couple of months. Even Zeke was born 5 months after the triplets, and he will catch up to being 4 soon.
Our species usually wait a full year to have kids, but unfortunately, Ryker and I couldn't wait. We wanted another one right after. Now, Ryker is determined to wait long for more kids. I want a big family, and he does too, which works out perfectly. For now, we both chose to hold off on them until they're all at least 5. I can't wait to have more children, but I would hate to have this issue with my spacing out thing getting in the way of enjoying my children. I have to get rid of this issue or fix it so I won't lose any more time.
I shut off the water, jumped out of the shower, and dried myself off. I put on my underwear and socks, then put on black cargo pants and a grey tank top. Lastly, I tie up my black combat boots. Next, I put on a little light makeup, to make my grey eyes pop. Then I grab a hair tie and skip out of my room after brushing my waist-length black hair. Yeah, my hair grew long and thick while I had our kids. Ryker wanted me to leave it long. I don't mind either it is manageable.
Ryker gestures for me to stand in front of him. He kissed my forehead as he placed both of his hands on my shoulders and then he spun me around so that my back was to him. He began to French braid my hair for me. This was our normal routine, he always braided my hair for me, ever since, well, ever since he became my mate. I frowned.
"Lena!" I blinked and looked at Ryker confused because he looked at me with determination.
"You blanked out just now." He tells me. "Eat quickly and then go before you do it again. I nodded at him, grateful.
"How long was it?" I asked.
He shook his head, "10 minutes."
Breakfast smells very delicious along with fresh brewed coffee. I love it when he cooks for me. Ryker, says, "Okay let me finish with your braid." I nodded and turned around again.
I close my eyes in contentment as my mate braids my hair for me, "I was going to do an updo for your hair, but your outfit screams braid instead. Are you taking your weapons with you?" He asked even though he knew I always did.
"Yes, it's a long trek through the forest. I always take them." I tell him. I can't just teleport to the Faery kingdom like how I do it here. There is a sliver in the forest where his realm is, I have to go through it using my magic, and then I teleport to his castle once I am in his realm. Elliot and Finn showed me it years ago after I had the triplets. King Finn showed me how to pass through years ago.
"Remember, if there's danger, and there is too many -" I cut him off.
"I fly or teleport myself out of there and link you or Weston," I say as he finishes braiding my hair. He ties it quickly and hugs me briefly from behind.
He turns me to face him then He gives me a pointed look, "Or Lukas."
I shake my head, "Ry, it's been years, and I don't want him to feel like he's still responsible for me when he's no longer my mate."
He nods sadly, "Yeah, but feelings just don't go away."
"Ry, he needs to remain how he is, for his second chance." I sighed, "We've talked about this and we always go in circles. I'm remaining firm on this decision Ry."
"What if there's no second chance?" He asks as he searches my eyes, looking hopeful.
I rolled my eyes, "Let's just eat, and then I can go before I blank out again."
He sighed but then agreed with me, then he quickly washed his hands and brought our plates to the table as I made my coffee. I joined him at the table once I was done making my cup. "This looks so good." He made bacon, sausages, ham, scrambled eggs, and toast. On the side, I had cut up bananas, grapes, and blueberries. My mouth watered as I dug in. "Mmm." I shoved food into my mouth right away.
"I told Lukas we would wait another year, then we'll consider him taking me as a chosen if he doesn't find a mate. He agreed. He said 5 years of waiting is long enough." I shrugged. "I just don't want to put us both into feeling things for each other and for it to be all for nothing when he does find a mate. "
"Fine, I'll drop it for now. Anyway, I think I will go get the kids from him today. I miss them and their noise. I also promised Ryn that I would buy her boxing gloves today and a punching bag." He tells me. I nodded as I ate. Maybe it'll be good for our little fighting alpha female daughter to use her need to fight on that instead of her brothers. Ryker continues exactly what I had thought in my head, "I think it'll be good that we get it, so she doesn't fight her brothers all the time."
I chuckled and said, "That is what I was thinking." He smiled at me adoringly and rubbed my knee. Sparks dance along my knee from his touch. I smiled at him quickly and we continued to eat in comfortable silence.
Finally, after breakfast, I held on to Ryker longer than I planned as I set out to the Fae kingdom. I needed that hug. I didn't like that I was losing moments with my family. I appreciate him for being there for me after all this time.
While I walked through the forest, I opened up my senses as I scanned the trees with my eyes, just making sure I was not being followed or watched. I kept walking at a steady pace, stepping over fallen trees, or walking around them. Finally, after walking for 30 minutes deep into the forest, far from the castle, I arrived at the sliver of the faerie realm.
I felt my angelic magic, it pulsed through me from everywhere. I had to concentrate on it, so I could push it out of my hands in front of me, wanting the sliver to reveal itself. Sure enough, I see the almost invisible zipper-like line. The sliver shimmered and moved in the air as my magic touched it. I pushed my magic around my entire body then stuck my finger through the sliver and used my other hand to pull it open.
I jumped right through the sliver, but as I jumped through, I could've sworn I heard a gun being fired in the distance. But then that could've just been me that made that noise as I jumped through. It's been so long since I came to this realm. I forgot that the sliver makes a noise as I go through it.
Little did I know at the time that it was a gunshot that I had heard. Also, once I'm in this realm, I can't feel Ryker or our bond. We've been through this many times and it's the same thing. If I am in danger, I teleport and leave, then link Ryker and Weston. Then they would tell me where they were and I'd teleport to them. But, that is only when I am in the Earth realm. Here it's different. King Finn helps me here, I am safe here. It was my journey to the sliver that Ryker was more worried about me running into trouble.
I wait a moment because it takes a moment for the king to feel that I am here. He usually sends a message.
A fireball glows in front then dims as a paper is revealed, I grab it before the fire spits it out. The flame burns brighter, waiting for the paper. I look at the words written, "In my library." I smiled as I tossed the paper back into the bright flame in front of me. The flame caught the paper and burnt before it dissolved and the fireball disappeared.
Goddess, I love magic, was my last thought before I teleported.
