Lukas POV
I was standing by the bench laughing as the kids all tumbled into the bouncy castle and got stuck at the entrance. Hardin, who had tiger face paint on his face, went running to the kids to help them. The guy looked hilarious, running at the kids with that face paint. Weston was inside the bouncy castle, smacking himself in the head at the children when they all collided and got stuck. He was yelling and screaming for them to go in one by one. He even yelled for them to slow down, but it fell on deaf ears as they all were overly excited. I shook my head as Hardin waved me over.
Now Hardin was yanking Ryn out first, but I knew that was a bad idea getting her out first. My firecracker was a wild one and very competitive. And yup, as expected, she jumped back in and got stuck again. I shook my head and yelled, "Get Emmett out first, Hardin!"
"Come here and help never mind giving orders!" Weston growled out. He, too, was unsuccessfully trying to pull the kids apart from inside the bouncy castle. Other parents were just starting to arrive with their kids. This castle was huge. This part of it was just the bouncy part. The other part was like an obstacle course bouncy castle thing.
I might as well show these boys how it's done. I went walking over to my youngest son Zeke and pulled him out first, then tossed him over my shoulder as he laughed. Little Zeke is a miniature version of Ryker but has his mother's personality. I love him as my own. Calm and I take him as our own even though biologically he's not ours. Next, I grabbed Emmett, who cackled loudly he definitely has the same laugh as Westons. Then I grabbed Emily, who was Westons other daughter. She was a year older than my triplets.
Hardin had Kade and Luca in his arms. Ryn scrambled up and ran into the bouncy castle. She, of course, speared her uncle Weston. Who fell backward laughing. "This little fireball!" He grunt out at the impact.
"She's more like a demon spawn if anything." Hardin muttered as he allowed the other kids to go in one by one. I let got of the kids in my arms as well.
"Hardin, some day when she's older, and wants to lay you on your ass. I am not even going to stand in her way." I tell him.
"Okay, she's an angel in disguise then." He says as he realizes she has just heard him.
Her glare at him was cute as she said, "I will get you one day, Uncle Hardin!" Hardin gulped as he stared at Ryn in surprise. Which made Weston and I I laugh.
Just then, Ryker came walking toward us all, as usual, wearing his all black clothing. He looked serious, but then again, he always looked serious. Ready to kill if needed. I admire his strength. Even now, he's still more powerful than I am. His cold, light blue eyes, which came from our wonderful sweet grandma Harley, looked right at me.
I frowned in concern at his expression. As soon as he stood beside me, he mindlinked as he smiled and waved toward the kids. The kids waved happily to Ryker. The kids all love him, for some reason. Even though he's the most serious of us. Obviously, he plays out that he's not telling me anything. "Lena left. I told her to go to King Finn." He links.
So she must be finally getting her blanking issue fixed. I honestly never noticed until Ryker stated it last week. Then again, for the past 4 years, I haven't spent much time with Lena by herself. Things changed. I still love her, how can I not? She gave me the most beautiful children. Even if I do find a mate, she'd have to accept my extended big family. Lena included because I am not leaving any of them for anyone. They'd just have to fit in here with us. If they can't, I can set them free.
I mindlinked my brother, "I'm glad, I hope he can help her, just sucks we can't communicate with her from here." When going to another realm, it's impossible for communication unless you use magic. The only way is to send a witch message. I think it's called.
"Tell me about it. I'm on edge right now since she left. I don't like it. Sometimes, I can't even read her anymore like I used to. Something is shifting with us, I can feel it. There's a change coming. After 4 years of taking things slow and enjoying our lives, I feel off, and I hate it. It was almost the same feeling I had before I met her. Storm is weirdly calm, too. It's just me. My magic is telling me something is coming. My vampire side can't be still." He links me.
I link him as Emmet, my nephew waves and beams at me after he threw down Ryn. Before I can wave back at home, Ryn plows into him, knocking him down.
"That's my princess!" Ryker yells, cheering her on.
I look at him at the same time Weston rolls his eyes and works at separating the children with Hardin. "Maybe you should take the kids. Go do something fun, Ryn was talking about boxing. Maybe it'll take you out of this funk. Maybe it's because Lena hasn't left in a long time that it's getting to you a little." I linked him.
He squinted his eyes as he looked toward the treeline in the distance as he thought about it. Then he said outloud, "Yeah, I will take the kids home. I will teach Ryn how to box a little." He then yells out, "Kade! Luca! Ryn! Zeke! Let's go!" He walks away, and they all stop what they are doing, and they all ran out of the bouncy castle catch up to Ryker.
I envy how he gets them all to listen to him without even trying. Even Ryn that little rebel. "How do you do it?" I asked as I snatched Kade before he could reach Ryker's truck.
Ryker shrugged, "They love me, I guess." He smirked at me as he walked backward toward his truck. I shook my head and smiled at him.
He headed to his truck. I kiss Kade and hug him and tell him that I love him, then I do the same thing to all my babies right before they all march up to Ryker. Ryker hoisted them into the truck one by one, buckling them into their booster seats.
The moment they drive off, I had this bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. I called Weston to come with me. Now that Zack showed up, he can help Hardin with the kids. I told Weston, "Calm is telling me something is wrong. I think we should follow Ry home." I tell him.
Weston nods and jumps into my Jeep with me without asking any questions. He tells Hardin, "Yo, Gemma will be here soon to help with the kids." Hardin waves him off, and Zack gives a thumbs up. Weston knows how much my gut instincts are never wrong. They say to always trust your wolf and your goddess. Right now, Calm is pacing in my head and keeps telling me something is wrong. He kept growling low in my head, and his fur was standing on end.
We were almost to Ryker and Lenas cabin when I felt pain in my chest. Weston grabs hold of the steering wheel and helps me pull over while I hold my chest. At the same time, he's holding his and panting. His eyes were wide, staring at me with a worried expression as we both felt the same thing. A tether broke.
Rykers' last mindlink made me push through the pain as I had to rush to his cabin for our babies. Rykers link, "I got shot! My babies are here with me at the cabin! Someone come get my babies!" He did a wide pack link, which made Weston and I let out a furostius roar. But we were not the only ones who growled, and so did our friends and family. "HURRY!!!" Calm growls in my head. Luckily, we were just at the edge of the driveway.
When we got to the cabin, a hooded figure was standing in front of the cabin, looking down at Rykers body. Their head whips around to look at us. I jumped out and whispered a spell that Uncle Elliot had taught me and pushed my left hand out toward them at the same time they raised their gun to fire at us. Weston was at my side just as fast.
Luckily, I was faster, I strode up to the person, rage at whoever killed my older brother, and put fear into my babies is going to get killed. I grabbed the frozen person and removed their hood from hiding their face. I stumbled back in shock as I bumped into Weston, who also stumbled back. What the f**k? The person in front of us turned into smoke and disappeared, leaving behind the cloak in my hand.
"What the f**k?!" Westons shock was palpable to my own. What the f**k is going on?
