“All of you are under arrest for theft, illegal dealings and kidnapping.” Aurelia enunciated, folding her arms.
She loved how a staggering formed on his handsome features along with heartbreak.
“k********g?” He asked, narrowing his eyes in disbelief.
“I don’t recall you asking for my consent.” She shrugged calmly.
Walking over the table, grabbing a glass of champagne and pouring some of herself, taking a sip of it and he couldn’t believe his heart.
“What?” He blinked, thinking he might have heard her wrong, but it was clear.
This was her plan to catch him. She simply used the fact that they used to know each other as a resource to get near him.
And then steal his hopes, arrest him.
“Yes. And now I have finally had you in my grasp, Alphonse Jude.” She smirked, finishing the drink and throwing the glass away.
“Come on, Ma’am. Don’t drink.” Her right-hand man said, frowning at her.
“Shut up. Do you know how expensive it is?” She muttered, inspecting the area.
“Who the hell are you?” He asked, narrowing his eyes in disbelief, almost glaring at her for toying with his emotions.
He was so engrossed in seeing her again that he failed to know what she could have been.
He was naive the emotions he should have murdered long ago.
“Oh, yeah, I never made my official introduction or rather, you never asked.” She chuckled mischievously.
Coming closer, she stood in front of him, staring dead into his eyes.
“Police Captain Aurelia Blue. I wish I could say it’s a pleasure to meet you, Sir.” She said dominantly, leaving everyone else astonished to know her position.
They never fathomed they would have an undercover cop under the label of a dancer, all to use his feelings.
“So it was you.. Who stole it.. It was fuckin-” He was about to growl, to lose his mouth by the treachery received.
His mind was temporarily shut down, heart racing in agony, unsure how to react.
“Watch your mouth. You are standing before a captain and don’t give me more reasons to add extra charges.” She warned, pulling his collar roughly.
This was too much for him to sink in.
“How could you do this? How dare you, Aurelia?” He whispered desperately, narrowing his eyes but she pushed him away.
“How dare I? I thought you should know.” She asked nonchalantly.
“Know what? That you were stabbing me in the first place? Played innocent to earn a place in my heart?” He asked, rage, pain blending together perfectly.
Others cannot perceive it was Alphonse before them as they never saw him this emotional before but her one ruse ravaged him.
“No. I want you to know…” Whispering, she pointed her finger at him in contempt.
“That the Alphonse I used to know, the man I promised back at Sunshine, died the day he took a life.” Expressing her resentment towards him, she scoffed.
Her heart clenched to think what he has become, walking on a path of return, a criminal.
“What..?” His eyes widened in appall, stumbling back.
“You were never my Alphonse.” She growled.
“You are not him, you are nothing but a damned criminal which I will condemn to death for his unspeakable, ruthless deeds.”
She continued to break his fragile, tiny shred of emotions under the weight of her cold words. He failed to realize the hatred she held for him.
“Is that how much you hate me?” He asked, narrowing his eyes in disbelief but rolling her eyes off she nodded.
“Yes.” She said without thinking.
His gaze lowered in dejection, inducing the fact he is truly alone and the only hope he had all this to live is also a lie.
“And etch this in your mind from now on.” She called, moving to his ears, whispering heartlessly in his ears.
“I would rather die than to spend a second with a beast like you.”
His eyes widened, not expecting her to say what crushed his last string of emotions, leaving his soul hurt, “Aurelia…?”
He tried to speak but no words came out, only an ache she gave him.
Not bothering to pay heed to his state, she scoffed, “Take them away.”
Nodding the cops took all of them away, dragging them to the van, creating a scandal, ruining the image they spent years building.
“You sure toyed with his emotions, look at his face, Ma’am.” Matteo said, smirking at her expressionless face.
“Let the realization of a broken heart sink in, Matteo.” She sighed, shaking her head in disappointment.
“He deserves it anyways.” She said, hating the fact what he has become now but the time to feel compassion for him has ended.
“Let’s go. This is going to be a long night.” She yawned, stretching her arms in the air, going back to work.
Doing patrol and keeping an eye on the trade they were about to make but thankfully they retrieved the diamonds and the money.
“Count it and then take it away.” She ordered, handling the matter quietly for now.
As she was working, she received a call from the station.
“Yeah, what is it?” She asked.
“Ma’am, Alphonse Jude wants to speak with his lawyer.” The constable told her with a sigh.
“Argh, I will be there in a moment.” She cursed under her breath, shaking her head.
“Matteo, take a watch in my place. I am going back to the station.” She called, knowing she has to handle the case on her own at night.
“Yes, Ma’am.” He nodded as she went back.
With a scowl lingering over her lips, she entered her cabin, watching Alphonse standing there, handcuffed, growling to himself.
“Yeah, what is your problem?” She asked rudely, entering, glaring at Alphonse for creating a fuss.
“I demand to speak with my lawyer.” He breathed out, unable to look into the eyes he used to worship.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” She muttered, waving her hand to shrug him off.
“Get me a coffee.” She ordered a constable, leaning on the table, smirking at his woe.
“I won’t forgive you for this.” He growled, raising his orbs to meet hers with rage burning in them.
His heart skipped a beat but not a fluttering, but a detestation to reach a point of no return.
“I will make sure you regret it, Aurelia.” He threatened her in a whisper, sending a death-stare in her direction.
“Do you realize who you are speaking to, Alphonse?” She asked, arching a brow, leaning dangerously closer to his face.
Her amusement faltered, losing her patience by his disrespect.
“Know your place, peasant.” She whispered, threatening him to shut his mouth and stay quiet before she took drastic measures.
“Just you watch-” He didn’t listen and was about to hiss at her again but she lost her posture.
“You won’t listen like this, you piece of shit.” Hissing, she grabbed the wooden rod nearby she keeps for these types of situations.
Before Alphonse could say or react, she hit him with it, he put his arm in the middle and it ended up breaking his bone in the process.
“Argh!” He groaned in pain, stumbling back by the abrupt pain.
The rod had so much power that it broke, Alphonse took deep breaths to bear the pain, not believing she did this.
“Gabriel.” She said emotionlessly, the man who was standing in the corner.
“Yes, Ma’am?” He asked with a gulp, frightened with a blazing fire in her eyes, the flames of aversion.
“Add a charge of assault.” She ordered, noticing how Alphonse was hissing in pain by the broken bone.
“Write, he was being aggressive towards the Captain so she had to take action in her defense and ended up breaking his bone in the process.” She smirked, throwing the rod broken in two pieces away.
Scanning his form top to bottom, she tilted her head to get a better glimpse of his grievous face.
“Understood, Ma’am.” He nodded quickly, doing as instructed.
“Now you better control this mouth next time.” She whispered temptingly, lifting his chin with her index finger.
He was burning with fury, waiting to get free from here and teach her a lesson.
“Take him away and treat his arm.” She ordered, deriding his face, not parting her finger from his chin.
They had a staring competition which indicated what used to exist between them has died and at this point.
They are nothing but foes.
They continued their predatory stare, gathering words for the next sentence but someone else entered as well.
“Baby? Are you okay? Did you do it?” Gasping inaudibly by the unexpected presence, she pulled away from Alphonse and turned.
A handsome man with brown hair and emerald eyes, apparently in his thirties came.
He embraced Aurelia instantly, astonishing her by his worry, by his display of affection.
“Elliot? What are you doing here?” She asked, pulling away but he kept holding her waist.
His green eyes held nothing but perturbation for her wellbeing.
“I was worried sick, I told you not to take the risk but no, you were always stubborn, you didn’t-” He continued to scold her but stopped when he noticed an envious eyes on him.
Turning his head, he saw Alphonse fuming. Betraying him was one thing but this is a whole another and it burned his core.
“Is this him?” Elliot asked, arching a brow, pulling Aurelia closer to him.
“Yeah. I told you, didn’t I?” She nodded with a pure smile, putting her hands on his chest, accepting his warmth.
“The one who can lock up the almighty Alphonse Jude is his childhood beloved.” She chuckled, considering him a fatuous man for not realizing this earlier.
“Hey, don’t make me jealous.” Elliot chuckled, pinching her cheek.
Narrowing his eyes, Alphonse couldn’t bear to witness this anymore, this was enough heartache for one night.
“Oh, yeah, you didn’t know, right?” Aurelia said, looking up at Elliot.
Staring intensely into his eyes, breaking his heart again by the official introduction.
“He is Elliot Bernard, my senior and my fiancé.”
