River's POV: While Mari ate, I started to pace a little. She frowned at me. What was I going to do about this? Damn it. I had really messed up. Now the council would know that Mari didn't have all her wolf abilities, and they might not leave us alone so easily. Even with her brother here to look out for her, as they claim. I ran a hand through my hair in frustration. "Don't stress so much," Mari said, and I froze for a moment. I turned to her and stepped over. I placed my hands on the table as I leaned forward. "Mari, do you understand what this means? You don't want the council in your business as it is. What if they find out about you though? If our pack found out, it would be one thing. None of them would tell anyone because it would put us all at risk. This is a big deal." She frown
