The light of the setting sun obscured the man hanging out of the Humvee from view. Something about his voice told Boros he was familiar, though. There was a gentleness in the harsh tones he used, but when he said buddy Boros felt that he meant it. The sun, all but hidden from view, obscured the Humvee further. He heard more than saw the man step down from his perch at the passenger side door. The crunching gravel underfoot gave away the fact the man was moving towards him. It was only when he was near enough that Boros eyes could adjust to the dark that he recognized the man before him, and even then it was too late.
