Boros’ head felt as though it were being crushed on all sides, like he sometimes felt when a storm was on the horizon or had yet to be formed. This particular storm had already lashed out once, however. The loud crack seemed to echo forever, and as it faded a distinct ringing took its place. Until, finally, it was all punctuated by silence. The curry smell was replaced by the metallic stench of gunpowder, and the pressure that had built, or had it all been in his head, subsided. It felt him feeling light headed.
