Chapter 6

After graduating Milley decided to lose some weight so she could feel better about herself. So she decided to ride her bike around the lake a few times each day. This way was the only way that Milley could think of to try to shed some belly off that she gained.

For weeks she did nothing but ride that bike and exercise trying to lose the weight but nothing was working. In fact she wasn’t losing weight but she was slowly gaining weight. Her dad harassed her everyday about how big she was getting. “ You better not be pregnant!” screamed her father from the couch. This only ended up in a huge fight. Later that night Milley was crying to her mom about her problem of not being able to lose weight. “Mom no matter what I do I just can’t seem to lose any weight….I just keep gaining it” Said Milley. “It might be your thyroid sweetheart we need to get that checked.” Her mom told her.

A few days later Milley was finally able to go to the doctor; She had everything checked. A few days after all the tests were complete Milley's home phone rang. He mother walked over and answered it..."Yes, this is her mother.....Oh ok.... yes I understand.... yes, that time will work for us....Thank you Doctor Lewis see you tomorrow'" The next day Milley and her mother went to the doctors office and waited to be called back. "Milley...the doctor is ready to see you now" said the nurse as she walked them back to the doctors office. The doctor came in and took a seat at his desk. "Well after going over all the tests that we have ordered and double checking them. I have to say Milley all your tests came back good your just a normal girl….Maybe you can try eating healthier…drink more water and exercise a bit more maybe that can help you lose weight” said the doctor.

As Milley leaves the doctors office and heads to the car. Her mother and her ride back in silence as Milley tries and understand what her doctor just told her. Once they get home and pull into the driveway and head inside Milley starts to head to her room as her mother stops her. "Milley...what did the doctor say about your results is something wrong?" asked her mother. Milley stops turns around and goes and sits down on the couch, she then looks up at her mother and says “Mom my thyroid is fine….. everything is fine…. I am just fat so I am going to have to get used to it.”

Milley started down a road of depression afraid she failed herself by not taking care of her body better. She started staying inside and being a recluse. She was so disgusted with her body. “I use to be thin and fit now I am bubbling over my waistband” Milley said to herself.

As time went on Milley started to complain that she was in pain; the pain would start from her the top of her shoulder blades and going down to the center of her back. which her mother blamed on her weight. Milley had enough of her own parents teasing her and not taking her pain seriously but instead threw constant jokes towards her.

So Milley decided enough was enough; she went to her room. She grabbed her cell phone and started looking for a job. The first one that she came across she decided to apply for; it was a job at a local supermarket. She knew she was going to have to stay at her parents home till she made enough money to get out. However, she didn’t want to be there but she had to wait till she had the money before she could move out. “Hopefully I can move out soon” Milley thought…

 She soon started working at the supermarket and was doing very well. Within a six months Milley already saved up enough money to get her own apartment. Now that she was on her own she was able to finally relax and be herself; not have to worry… So she thought…

 After 3 years of working at the super market and being there every time they needed someone to cover a shift; even taking extra shifts. She realized that she did more than what was required of her. After realizing that her job was taking advantage of her and they were never going to promoted her or even give her a raise. She decided enough was enough and quit her job; this made Milley really upset. 

So, after Milley quit her job out of anger without even thinking about how she was going to pay her bills. Milley quickly went to job hunting; because going back to her parents was not an option. Two days later she was offered a job; it was being a grounds keeper at the local church. It wasn’t exactly what she was looking for but she accepted the job. Specially knowing that she needed the money to take care of herself. The pay was not bad after all. She was going to make $12.50an hour instead of $10 like she was making at the grocery store. Which meant she would be better off working at the local church instead of the crummy grocery store. "So lets see here i am going to be making $2.50 more an hour that's a whole $100 extra a week." she thought to herself...happy with the outcome of her new job and figuring out she would make more money at her new job she decided to do the best she could; Hopefully she could even find a better paying job and be able to get herself a car instead of having to ride her bike everywhere. This would definitely open up so many more job options for her.

One day while she was working at the local church Milley started to notice the world was turning into a crazy place all around her. Everything was happening so fast. Plagues were sweeping across the world taking so many lives. The young and elderly were hit the worst. Food and water sources were starting to become damaged all over the world. This started causing the crime rates to go soaring through the roof as if nothing could stop the numbers from climbing. Then one by one children and the elderly started disappearing as if they had just vanished only there clothes were left behind where they were. Milley didn’t know what to think.

While at work Milley would listened to the church sermon; It was about the events going on.  She started to realize something more was at play here.  They were talking about the horsemen of the apocalypse and the book of revelations…even predicting the end of the world and the second coming of Christ. Milley felt like she was in a nightmare! Milley finished her job and went home; as she turned on her tv and flipped the channel over to the news. 

Once the news channel was on you could see the complete chaos the government was in. the news was also reporting that cities were falling and some were even being set on fire. All of a sudden the TV went blank and loud sirens started roaring. Milley looked out her window and people were running down the street in a panic… some people were getting in their cars trying to run but causing wrecks as they tried to flee. Milley was in disbelief but she wasn’t scared; she didn’t understand why.

                                                                     It was the end of the world. 

                All of a sudden a bright light appeared from the sky making everything seem to disappear.
