After giving his girlfriend a quick explanation, Luo Kun jogged downstairs and entered a straight, narrow hallway. At the end of the hallway was the company’s security gate—the only exit.
Luo Kun noticed two overweight security guards standing near the gate, trembling as they clutched non-electrified rubber batons. Sweat dripped down their faces. He could feel the strain on his body from the short jog, a sensation he had never experienced in his previous life. It was a stark reminder of this body’s inherent weaknesses.
His legs felt like jelly, his lungs burned, and his entire body seemed to lack strength. Despite this, he quickly approached the security gate and addressed the guards. "Get out of here. Find a safe place to hide. I’ll handle this."
As he spoke, Luo Kun flashed the Type 92 pistol in his hand, signaling for them to leave immediately.
"Well, well, Luo Kun, since when did you become the hero? If you’re so eager to hand over such a valuable item, we’ll gladly take it off your hands!" The two guards, who had been pale with fear just moments ago, now grinned slyly at the sight of the gleaming pistol in Luo Kun’s hand. To them, the gun was a lifeline—a weapon they could use to fend off the zombies.
Exchanging a glance, the guards pretended to approach Luo Kun amiably before suddenly lunging at him, attempting to tackle him and seize the pistol. But Luo Kun, with his extensive anti-terrorism experience, had anticipated their move. Despite the immense strain on his body, he swiftly stepped back, creating distance between them.
As expected, the clumsy guards missed their target. Seizing the opportunity, Luo Kun slammed the metal pistol against one guard’s temple. The unprepared guard crumpled to the ground, dazed and unconscious.
Without hesitation, Luo Kun pulled the trigger, firing a shot toward the other guard’s groin.
**Bang!**
The bullet left a deep hole in the floor, narrowly missing the guard’s lower body.
"Mr. Luo, we were wrong! We’ll leave this to you! Please, don’t kill us!" The remaining guard, thoroughly frightened, dragged his unconscious colleague away as if fleeing from a ghost.
Soon, Luo Kun was alone in the hallway.
By now, the security gate had been torn open in several places. Through the bullet holes, Luo Kun could see the blood-soaked nails of the zombies outside. It was clear these monsters had already claimed innocent lives.
Taking a deep breath, Luo Kun raised his pistol and took aim.
Moments later, a large piece of titanium alloy was ripped away from the gate by a zombie, creating a hole large enough for a person to crawl through. A towering zombie, roughly 1.8 meters tall, slowly poked its bloodied head through the opening. It bent down, attempting to squeeze its way into the building.
The zombie’s skull had been torn open at some point, exposing its brain, which oozed a foul, bloody stench. The sight was nauseating.
Without hesitation, Luo Kun steadied his stance, gripped the pistol firmly, and fired.
Three consecutive shots erupted from the pistol, each striking the zombie’s exposed brain. Crimson blood exploded from its skull, splattering across the floor. The zombie collapsed lifelessly to the ground.
Another zombie, its skull intact, quickly followed. Luo Kun’s stomach churned, but his grip on the pistol remained steady. He fired three more shots, blasting away half of the zombie’s head. Despite this, its limbs continued to move, a testament to its terrifying resilience.
Luo Kun fired four more shots, finally putting the zombie down for good. Including the shot he had fired at the guard, he had now used 11 bullets, leaving only 4 in the magazine. He retreated further down the hallway to buy time to reload.
Just then, a clear electronic voice echoed in his ears.
**[System Notification: Host has achieved 10 consecutive headshots, unlocking the G-Level Headshot Achievement.]**
**[Congratulations! Host has received a G-Level Achievement reward: a Rifle Mystery Box. Would you like to open it now?]**
Luo Kun’s face lit up with excitement. He was in desperate need of a better weapon!
"System, open the box. Now." Luo Kun had reached the end of the hallway. He couldn’t retreat any further without risking the safety of his colleagues deeper inside the building. If the zombies followed him, his main mission would fail.
**[Understood. The system will now open the Rifle Mystery Box.]**
**[Opening weapon box. Please wait…]**
As the system began the process, Luo Kun felt a pang of anxiety. He couldn’t afford to waste a single second. Quickly, he pulled out the remaining bullets for his Type 92 pistol and began reloading.
Fortunately, these low-level zombies moved slowly, at about half the speed of a normal human. As they inched closer, Luo Kun finished reloading and fired again.
From less than five meters away, Luo Kun’s hand didn’t waver. The pistol’s recoil was minimal, almost negligible for a seasoned special forces soldier like him.
Fifteen more shots rang out, each one a perfect headshot. So far, every bullet had found its mark, piercing through the zombies’ temples with deadly precision.
Out of the 12 zombies, 10 had been eliminated. Only 2 remained.
These last two zombies, having witnessed the deaths of their companions, entered a frenzied state. Their movement speed tripled, and they lunged at Luo Kun with terrifying speed, forcing him into a corner.
