Alaster stood in his backyard, gazing out at the horizon and staring up at the stars. He wished he had never agreed to help Constanine Booker with his plan. Alaster had accepted the payment for the job only because it was large enough to allow him to be left alone to his own devices for many years to come. If Alaster thought he could return the money and walk away, he would, but Constantine would never allow that to happen. Constantine had hired Alaster to transport him and others to Obsidian from their location in Canada. Alaster could do that for short distances or only himself at that distance. He had advised Constantine that it would be impossible, but he would not take no for an answer. Now it was up to Alaster to find a way to make it work, even though there most likely was none. T
