Chapter 61

1670 Words

The dining room had fallen into awkward silence as the family ate. They had been bouncing from topic to topic, careful to avoid talking about what might happen later in the day if Constanitne arrived and demanded to challenge Logan. At first, it had been easy, with Jonah asking Logan and Gabby about the final details of the home he was designing for them, and the children chattering with each other. Now, it was all silent except for the sound of chewing and utensils on plates. “Olivia, Tyson, would you mind if Ari and I took all the kids to the living room so they can watch a cartoon while they eat?” Jonah asked. Jonah could feel the oppressiveness in the room, as the others were on edge. He knew no one wanted to discuss the possibilities of a fight to the death in front of the children.
