Ashton’s eyes were still closed as he pulled Everly close. He opened his eyes to see outside. Everything was gray in that quiet time between day and night. This was his favorite time of day. The quiet allowed him to center himself and prepare for the day. It was something his Aunt Junie taught him when he was a boy, and he used it often. “Mmmm,” Everly groaned as she stretched in his arms.
