Miccoli's mind was scrambled. He'd tried over and over again unsuccessfully to mind-link Ramsey, but something was blocking him. "This isn't good." He mumbled under his breath. If there was technology in the Mortal Realm that could scramble their signal, then something was seriously wrong. He didn't even know where to begin, he'd managed to pick up Flora's earthy scent which led him to the hobble remains of an abandoned building before the trail ran cold. He could see straight through the building, it's door long gone off it frame, the windows shattered, and its brick mainly at his feet.  Miccoli looked around, his pale blue eyes focusing on the chipped brick that remained. "There has to be something here." He didn't understand. Why would Flora be here and what was this place anyway?" "I'm coming down now." A male's voice caught his attention. Miccoli camouflaged himself into the darkness and waited for the person to be revealed. A dark haired man appeared dressed in slacks and a long white coat. "I know I still can't believe it myself." The man continued to speak into the phone. He pulled out a key card and walked towards the pile of bricks located on the ground. Miccoli watched as the stranger pressed the key card against one of the bricks revealing a hidden door in the rubble. He could faintly pick up Flora's scent, she was in that underground area. Here's my chance He thought to himself as the man slinked down a set of steps. All he needed to do was remain quiet, distant, and in the shadows. Miccoli made it through the opening of the hidden entrance just before it closed. The area was black, with lights faintly glowing in the distance. His heart sank to his feet, as a smell permeated through his nose..blood...lots of blood. He continued to follow the lights, the feeling of dread growing inside in with each step. After a few more seconds, Miccoli came to a clearing, and his eyes widened. There were machines, tubes, people everywhere. "What the hell is this place?" He muttered under his breath. His eyes scanned the brightly lit room until they found a home. A steal slab stood against the wall, a body bound to it. Bile rose to Miccoli's throat. Rams He wanted to scream as he continued to look around taking in the bodies of his friends all on adjoining slabs. Blood pooled from their faces and bodies as their heads slunk into their necks. "Now testing subject R5461 again." The dark haired man said from the corner of the room. He covered his eyes with goggles before a large beam of light emitted across the room into Ramsey. The cries of his friend broke his heart. He's alive That was all he needed to see. A red glow emitted from his body, his eyes brimmed red. "I wouldn't do that if I was you Incubus." A voice called from behind him. Miccoli could hear the c*****g of a gun followed by the feel of the coldness of the nozzle pressed against his back. He knew the voice before he even saw the person. He didn't care about the threat, if they were going to kill him, they would  have to face him head on. He whipped around in pure vengeance to face the person behind the pain of his friends.  "YOU!" He snarled. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Selene dropped Lukas with a plop on the couch in the middle of the living room of the castle. His blue eyes were the size of two moons as he stared at her dumbstruck. "I really wanted to go about this with more etiquette but I really just don't have the time....welcome to the Dark Realm." She said waving her hand around in dramatic flare. Lukas shifted in the chair in terror.   "Oh relax, nothings going to happen. I just want to talk."  "And we couldn't have done that where we were?" "Oh..so you'd rather I ripped your little friend with the big mouth in half?" Lukas winced at how calmly she said those words. Something told him that, that statement wasn't a threat, but a promise of what could have happened. "Wh-what do you want with me?" Selene rolled her eyes. Didn't anybody listen anymore? This entire thing was getting redundant. "Addeline is missing." That seemed to catch his attention.  "Wh-what do you mean missing?"  "As in not here...as in disappeared...and a little spider told me that you may have played a part in that." Lukas thought back his last moments with Addeline, and his heart ached. "That face tells me that you know know what I'm talking about?" He nodded slowly, still avoiding eye contact.  "I-I was so mean to her." Selene brow raised. He was mean to her? She couldn't wrap her head around that concept. The boy seemed like a walking heart attack waiting to happen. "What did you do?" "She told me that she wasn't human...and I kinda freaked..BUT HOW ELSE WAS I SUPPOSED TO REACT?" He was almost hysterical, and Selene couldn't help but stifle a laugh. She sat down beside him causing Lukas to straighten up immediately.  "You remind me of when my husband told me he wasn't human." "But aren't you-" Selene raised her hand in protest. "It's a long story. The point is, I wasn't too understanding to begin with either." Lukas stared at Selene. She looked so much like Addeline it hurt. "I didn't mean it...I..I care a lot about her." Selene nodded her head. "We'll I'm banking on you both caring a lot about one another, or else this won't work and I need it to work. Little Miss Stubborn has been blocking our mind-links for months." Lukas tilted his head in confusion. "I-I don't understand...how can I help?" Selene let out a small smirk showing her fangs as her golden eyes seemed to dance. "You're going to call her." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------                                                                             --Addeline POV-- "You know you can't stay hidden here...it's already been a pain keeping Rumy from finding out." Elder  Bedivere said to me over his shoulder as he worked to water the plants. I rolled my eyes, and he laughed. "I can see that." I felt my mouth gap open. How was he always able to do that? I fiddle with a blade of grass and looked up to the clear blue sky. It's depth reminding me so much of a pair of blues I once had the pleasure of staring deep into.  "I'm going to go back Elder, I just...I don't know." That was the truth. I missed my family so much it hurt. I wanted more than anything to go home, but how could I after what I'd done?  I'd not only hurt others, I'd hurt Ivan, the look of his body crashing into that tree tore me apart every night until finally it was easier to not sleep. "You need to learn to forgive yourself." I scoff. "Easier said than done." Elder Bedivere turned to face me. "Have you been hearing the voice?" I shook my head no. Leigon had been quiet since that day in the woods, and if I was completely honest, I was happy.  "I hope she's gone." "It doesn't work like that." He responded, and I scrunched up my nose. I knew he was telling the truth, but still, a part of me wished that he wasn't. I pulled my legs up towards my chest and buried my head into them. "I just wish that this belonged to someone else...someone-" I inhaled deeply. "Someone who wasn't such a screw up." Tears well in the corner of my eyes, and I quickly brush them away. Elder Bedivere put down his watering can and stood beside me. "Stand up Addeline." I did as I was told. His purple eyes pierced into me as he starred at me deeply. "When will you realize you are exactly the person who should have this power...after all this time and you still haven't figured out what you're power is rooted in?" My mind traveled back to my mother, and her saying the same thing, but I was lost. How was I supposed to know what the source of my power was? "The incident with Ramsey...why did you do it?" I thought about it for a second. "Because him and dad were being jerks and I didn't like the way they were teasing mom." "And the incident in the woods." I felt the anger prickle on the back of my neck. "Nobody messes with my brother." Elder Bedivere tilted his head towards me, and said in a low voice.  "You may have went about it in an extreme manner...but both instances stemmed from the same desire." I processed his words.  The same desire... My eyes widened and Elder Bedivere shook his head. "I-I was just trying to -" "Protect them...you were in your own way trying to protect them....that is the root of your power..and the reason why YOU were chosen. You care about the well being of others, so much so, you've allowed the guilt of what yo did to those children, cause you to run away. You're even trying to protect them...from you." He placed his hand on my shoulder. "Legion makes no mistakes." I couldn't think. The revelation hitting me all at once. I was trying to protect them. My knees feel like jelly, and at first I didn't notice the dull pain constantly rising through my core. I doubled over in pain, my insides feeling as if on fire. "Elder Bedivere what's happening to me?" I grunt out, my body sliding in the darkness.  "My dear...it looks like you're being summoned." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Selene sat in frustration on the couch, as she watched Lukas with a face that looked like he was constipated. "What are you doing?" She asked finally, causing him to snap his eyes open.  "I-I trying to summon Addeline."  "Oh, I thought you were backed up or something." Lukas rolled his eyes. "I told you this wouldn't work." He was disappointed. The hopes of seeing his Pele again slowly fleeting. Selene stood from the couch and joined him at his side.  "You're concentrating on the wrong thing. Stop focusing on bringing Addeline to you, and concentrate on all the things you know about her..miss about her...all the reasons you want her to come to you." Lukas felt his cheeks reddened but he quickly brushed off the shyness. It was that very same reservation that caused him to lose her in the first place. He inhaled deeply and parted his legs.  Focus on the things you know about her She was beautiful, not just on the outside like he'd originally thought, but her heart immitted a warmth that made him want to be a better person. She was tough, but there was a vulnerability that she let him see sometimes, and in those moments..he was grateful. Focus on the things you miss about her She made him laugh from his core. Someone who he hardly knew could make him laugh until he was breathless, and in the same moment look at him with those fire like eyes, and make him forget how to breathe. It wasn't until this very moment, this very second, he realized something. Addeline was his best friend. She meant more to him than anyone aside his father ever did. Lukas needed her with him, and in a whisper so low Selene almost missed it he said so. "Please..Pele...I need you."  "f**k!" Lukas eyes shot open to see Addeline doubled over in pain. "f**k!" She screamed again holding her side. He wanted to run to her but his feet were planted into the ground. After a few moment, Addeline finally noticed he was there.  "What are you doing here?" She asked, her lip trembling slightly. "Your mom taught me how to summon you." Addeline's eyes shot to her mother.  "But I thought summoning for an Incubus/Succubus was rare-" Selene quickly silence her daughter. "We'll discuss this later."  So I was right She thought to herself. She'd had a feeling when she saw him, but now she was sure.  Miccoli is not going to be happy about this Her thoughts suddenly traveled to Miccoli. Where was he? He was supposed to contact her when arrived.  "I need to go find you father." "That won't be necessary..." A voice rang from behind Selene. Selene turned to find herself staring at a large gun like contraption. She locked eyes with it's owner. "Melanie...what the hell is going on?" Melanie smiled, enjoying the complete shock on Selene's face. "Well...this is the part where I take you back to my lab to finish my work." A sinister grin spread over her face. "Miccoli was right about you." "Didn't help him or you friends however..." Selene felt the spit in her mouth dry. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THEM?" Melanie laughed. "They're alive for now...though their longevity is completely in your hands however...so I suggest you come along easily or I shoot you, drag your body to my lab, and still kill everyone you love." Selene was at an impasse. She needed to get to Miccoli and her friends, she also needed to protect Addeline and Lukas.  "I'll go with you..just don't hurt Addeline or her friend." Melanie looked passed Selene's shoulder to Addeline. "Please I don't want your little runt or-" Her sentence stopped dead in it's track as she caught sight of the other person in the room. His blue eyes dug into hers, the confusion in them matching her own. "Lukas" She managed to croak out. How the hell could this be? Lukas stared back at her, his legs threatening to give out. Before him stood the woman who first taught him nightmares were real. "Mom?" He responded in utter disbelief.
