I was the most admired wife in a wealthy family, yet I personally took care of my husband's dog. No matter how dirty it got, I always bathed it myself.

My husband often became jealous because of it. "Didn't we hire a housekeeper? You spend all day bathing the dog and never have time for me."

I merely smiled and said nothing.

Sometimes, a dog is more useful than a person.

There were things I could not get out of a person's mouth, but a dog would tell me through its actions.

The day before yesterday, just as I was about to wipe the dog's paws, it suddenly pulled a pair of pink lace panties out of my husband's bag.

I picked them up and took a look.

They were not my size.

The next day, I took the dog to my husband's hotel and let it smell the panties again.

"Smell carefully and find out who this belongs to."

Chapter 1

There were things I could not get out of a person's mouth, but a dog would tell me through its actions. The day before yesterday, just as I was about to wipe the dog's paws, it suddenly pulled a pair of pink lace panties out of my husband's bag. I picked them up and took a look. They were not my size. The next day, I took the dog to my husband's hotel and let it smell the panties again. "Smell carefully and find out who this belongs to." ***** At ten in the morning, I walked Baxter into the Westbury Hotel. The blonde girl at the front desk saw me and immediately rose to her feet in panic. "Mrs. Calloway, Mr. Calloway is in a meeting. Would you like to wait in the lounge on the top floor first...?" I interrupted her and tapped the marble counter twice with my finger. "No. I'm not here to see him today. Notify all female employees to gather in the first-floor lobby in ten minutes." The receptionist froze for a second. She did not dare ask any questions and immediately picked up the intercom. Ten minutes later, more than forty female employees in tailored suits stood in two rows in the lobby. I sat on the sofa across from them. Baxter wagged his tail and lay quietly at my feet. Ignoring their curious and uneasy gazes, I picked up the freshly brewed single-origin pour-over coffee and took a small sip. The coffee's fruity acidity spread across my tongue. I frowned slightly. The water temperature was two degrees too low. The hotel manager hurried over and said respectfully, "Mrs. Calloway, all female employees are here, including the part-time staff and cleaning staff." "Good." I set the cup back on its tray and patted Baxter's head. "Go." Baxter stood up, shook his glossy black fur, and wagged his tail as he sniffed each person one by one. Everyone moved along with him, their faces full of curiosity and confusion. When he reached the middle of the second row, Baxter suddenly stopped. His nostrils twitched twice. Then every muscle along his back tensed, and a low whine came from his throat. The next second, he barked and bit the hem of a young female employee's skirt, yanking her outward. "Get away! Don't touch me!" I narrowed my eyes and glanced at the name tag on her chest. Housekeeping Department, Lily Prescott. She had sweet features and flawless skin. At that moment, her doe-like eyes were filled with panicked tears, yet she bit her lip and refused to cry. The female employees around her began whispering. Several pairs of eyes shifted back and forth between Lily and me. But because of my status, no one dared to speak. I snapped my fingers. Baxter obediently released her and returned to sit at my feet. I stood up and calmly walked toward her in my high heels. Lily bit her lip tightly and forced herself to lift her head. Her voice trembled, but it carried a note of defiance. "Mrs. Calloway, even if you are the hotel owner's wife, you can't humiliate an employee like this in public. I am here to work, not to entertain you and your dog!" I stopped in front of her and caught a faint scent on her—Chanel No. 5. The fragrance was classic but expensive, not something a Housekeeping Department employee earning three thousand dollars a month could afford. I looked directly into her eyes and spoke calmly. "The pink lace thong in Adrian Calloway's briefcase was left there by you, wasn't it?"
