CHAPTER 2

My body began to tremble as Bella's footsteps became closer and louder in my ears.
“You damn Omega! Open this freaking door right now” Bella's yells rang in my head like a bell, but I was determined not to open the door.
The mating ceremony is only two days away now, and I was never going to let Bella beat me to a pulp, not when I was finally going to be meeting my own mate.
“Open the door now before I break it down!” panic flashed across my face as Bella continued to yell and bang the door. She might break the door open just like she did last time to which I almost lost my life in her hands.
But I will meet my mate in the next two days, and I want to look all my best for him.
I shook my head and lay down to continue my sleep.
Bang!
The door suddenly burst open and a white wolf stared at me with madness. My eyes widened and my breathing became difficult. This should not be!
Without shifting back to her human form, the white wolf pounced on me. I backed towards the window and tried to jump out.
With the bloodthirsty eyes of the wolf staring at me menacingly, I knew I may end up dead in her hands.
My legs were on the window when I was pulled back into the room and slammed to the ground.
I almost escaped through the window, but I was still a little bit slow.
“No… don't come closer” I began to crawl back on the floor with one of my hands covering my face and the other stretched out.
After five minutes, the wolf shifted back and I vaguely heared the receding sound of her footsteps. By then I was almost unconscious.
The next day passed in a hurry and finally, today is the mating ceremony that has been the long awaited fantasy of all the young girls of my age.
The excitement was like a wildfire during the harmattan, and every part of the pack was boiling with excitement.
I leaned weakly on my window frame and looked at the buzzing scene outside with a smile.
While everyone was busy preparing for the mating ceremony, I had been bedridden throughout the whole of yesterday.
“Ouch!” my hand mistakenly grazed the edge of the window frame and pain shot through the entire hand while I grimaced in pain.
I was lucky to survive Bella's beating two days ago. I could have died that day but the will and desire to see my mate kept me alive.
With different wounds on my body, I managed a smiled and checked the time for the umpteenth time.
I was lucky to have covered my face during the beating, so my face was still presentable while my hands and other parts of my body bore Bella's wrath.
Probably my mate will will say that I am not as ugly as every other person says.
It was soon five pm in the evening, and the mating ceremony will start by eight pm. I got out of bed and began to dress up in a frenzy. It is almost time!
“Haha…” a sinister laughter sounded behind me as I checked my face for the last time.
“Ugly thing!”
Somehow, Bella has entered when I was dressing up. She stood at the door and stared at me mockingly with her hands on her hips.
“You dare to have any idea about the mating ceremony? Who do you think wants a loser like you?”
Bella taunted me and showed off her red princess style gown which accentuate perfectly with her red hair and explosive figure.
I shook my head and continued to adjust the edge of my blue floral gown.
“You dare ignore me, b*tch!” Bella stood up and moved closer to me. I backed off and stared at her blankly.
“Don't worry. I won't kill you today” Bella suddenly smiled and began to smile at herself in front of my mirror.
“Let me tell you, alpha Nicole is my mate! He can only belong to me. But listen!”
Bella turned to face me and her smile disappeared.
“I did not kill you because of today. I want to see that unfortunate ignoramus that will be your mate. Who knows if you would not even have a mate, stinking human!”
I moved back instinctively as Bella shouted the last two words and stormed out of the door.
My eyes became red at the thought of not being able to shift. But no! I was not going to cry, because I will be meeting my mate today!
It's almost time! I hurried out of the house with my blue angelic hair bouncing behind me to the alpha's mansion where the mating ceremony will be held.
I really did not feel the pain all over my body this moment.
All I can feel now is just excitement, such that I have never felt all my life.
The yard was already filled up when I arrived. I managed to squeeze into the yard.
“They are really lucky” someone sighed beside me.
My eyes followed his gaze and landed on two people who were hugging themselves tightly at the centre of the yard.
I knew them. Klein and Karen.
They have been in a romantic relationship for a long time and finally now, they have discovered that they are mates. Lucky indeed!
My heart began to thump wildly at the thought of meeting my own mate later.
“Here goes the ugly Omega who cannot shift into her wolf” a sarcastic voice sounded beside me and Bella came into my view.
Everyone instantly distanced themselves away from me.
“Such scum dares to come here?”
“Go home, weak human”
I remained silent as everyone began to laugh at me.
A figure I was familiar with squeezed out of the crowd and hurried towards me with care in his eyes.
“Don't take it to heart” Jayden comforted me with a smile.
“Thank you” a smile appeared at the corner of my mouth.
I really wish my mate is Jayden; then my wicked stepmother will not have any excuse to stop us from seeing each other.
Jayden is my friend and the only person who stood by me when every other person bullied me.
Bella hated him the most, but he also hates Bella more.
“Heyyy!” loud cheers echoed at another corner of the yard as two other people clung to themselves with deep affection.
Jayden suddenly let go of my hand and ran off in another direction.
Another round of cheers rang out throughout the yard as Jayden and a beautiful girl immersed themselves in a passionate kiss.
“Are you disappointed? You don't have a mate! You're human!” Bella gigled at me and laughed menacingly.
I calmed myself and sincerely congratulated Jayden in my heart. I was a little disappointed, but I believe my mate is here.
The delicious smell of food in the yard suddenly changed to a thick smell of rosewood, and I began to feel intoxicated.
I sniffed and began to walk forward where the smell was more thicker. My heart began to thump as I hurried forward.
I was a little surprised to see Bella also follow beside me with a lost expression. Thoughts after thoughts began to swirl in my head.
Can she also perceive… no. I shook my head and ran into the alpha's mansion without thinking, because the smell seems to be coming from here.
I paused to catch my breath while Bella ran past me with a disgusted face to the opposite room.
The smell does not seem to be coming from that room. I shook my head and entered the next room.
“Mate” before I could talk, a majestic voice entered my ears and a figure turned to face me.
“Mate?” I widened my eyes in surprise at the person that stood in front of me.
“Alpha Nicole?”
