I stared at my slightly bulging belly with fear and bitterness in my eyes.
This is the fifth week after the mating ceremony, and apart from the agony of rejection, I have also been feeling somehow for some weeks now.
Even my stomach seems to be slowing increasing in size. I did not need anybody to tell me that I was already pregnant.
How am I going to…? No. I shook my head and trembled at the possibility of my thought.
How on earth will I tell the wicked mother and daughter duo that hated me to the bone?
“Where is Kate? Come here immediately!”
A stern command sounded downstairs.
I quickly jumped up and wrapped myself with an oversized gown before hurrying downstairs.
My stepmother was the one calling me.
“Bella is right. You have indeed been acting suspiciously these days” my stepmother, Benita, scanned me from my head down to my feet with suspicious.
I straightened my body and looked bravely at her.
“And what's with the oversized clothes you’ve always been wearing recently? Or are you pregnant?” Benita's gaze was scary and scrutinizing, but I managed to keep a straight face.
“Answer me!” Benita stood up from the sofa and shouted at me.
A hint of panic flashed across my face but I managed to control it without anyone noticing.
My heart began to beat faster as she moved closer to me while staring at me like a hawk.
Bella snorted coldy while caressing her neck on the sofa. It was the spot where alpha Nicole marked her.
“I am not pregnant. I…” I wanted to explain with a calm expression when Bella interrupted my words.
“Then why are you wearing this big gown again today?” Bella snapped at me before I could finish my words.
I was startled but I did not change my expression.
“I just feel like wearing it” I replied simply and faced Benita with a forced smile.
“Who are you smiling at? Go to the supermarket right now and get me these supplies”
“And also, wear a tight gown when you are going out and return before nightfall”
Benita threw a sheet of paper at me and walked into her room.
I bent down to pick up the paper with the last bit of strength in me.
Although Benita left already, Bella was still staring at me, so I did not show any sign of weakness.
“I know you are pregnant. You think you can hide it from me, right? I will expose you soon” Bella kicked the paper on the ground away from my reach and hissed.
I narrowly avoided falling to the ground and ignored Bella's provocation.
“Let's wait and see!” Bella pointed at my belly before walking away.
I finally picked up the paper, changed my dress and set off for the supermarket.
The biggest supermarket in the entire Red moon pack was filled with people as always.
I squeezed myself through the crowd while clutching the bag in my hand to my stomach.
Benita already instructed me to stop wearing oversized dresses.
Although I wanted to wear the big gown from earlier, I knew it would only expose me.
“Is that not Kate?” a blonde walked briskly towards me with a smirk on her face.
I recognized her at a glance as one of Bella's followers.
My hands instinctively tightened around the bag covering my slightly bulging stomach.
“It is indeed you” she laughed out loud and stood in front of me with folded arms.
I was beginning to panic and knew I needed to avoid arousing her suspicion.
“Excuse me” I tried to walk past her in a hurry but she stood in front of me again.
“I am talking to you b*tch!” she shouted and frowned with obvious disgust on her face, scanning me from head to toe.
My hands began to tremble slightly and my anger was rising at the same time.
The movement of her eyes paused for some seconds on my stomach.
My heart rose to my throat as her eyes lingered on my stomach.
“What's with your belly? Did you eat the wrong food or you are pregnant?” she looked at me with a raised eyebrow.
I knew I had to leave immediately to avoid trouble.
I tried to force my way past her but she dragged me back.
“She is pregnant” an older woman passed beside the blonde and glanced at my belly briefly.
Fear rose up in me and my heart began to beat erratically.
I knew I was done for already and my eyes became completely dull.
“Wait… is this not Kate?” the woman furrowed her brows and beckoned on the blonde who nodded in return.
The blonde gave me a sinister gaze and snatched the bag in my hands.
“Indeed, you are really pregnant, haha” the blonde laughed and grabbed her phone.
“Bella must hear this”
My dull eyes became sharp immediately at the mention of Bella.
The woman also shook her head in disgust and pulled out her phone.
“Hey Benita. Yes, it is your stepdaughter. Yes, the useless Omega…oh, you're here already, haha”
I stared at the blonde and the woman in front of me with great fear.
Benita and her daughter were now aware of my pregnancy.
“I knew it, you b***h!” a voice that I was knew so well sounded in my ears.
My body began to tremble visibly as my stepmother, Benita and Bella walked out behind me.
“Speak up, who is responsible for this” Benita pointed to my stomach and asked.
I moved back in fright and shook my head.
“Oh… you don't know. I have never seen anyone so shameless”
“You killed your stupid mother and refused to shift when all of your mate could already shift into their wolf. Your mate even rejected you, and now you are pregnant with a bastard. i***t!” Benita raised her hands and gave me a resounding slap.
My face burned with a stinging sensation and the only thought I had now was to run for my life.
Because if I didn't, the consequences will be unbearable.
I suddenly knocked down the blonde beside me and ran with all of my strength out of the supermarket.
The supermarket was around the outskirt of the pack, so I ran towards the border of the pack.
I could feel Benita and Bella's wolf behind me but I managed to cross the border before they could catch me.
I stopped to catch my breath when I confirmed that she was no longer pursuing me.
By now it was night-time and everywhere around me was completely dark.
The path ahead was also dark with dense bush and big trees.
I sat down to rest because I was too exhausted.
My eyes was closed when I suddenly heard the rustling of leaves around me.
My eyes flung open and met a terrifying scene.
A group of rogues was walking towards me with a fierce momentum.
