Hodgenock hurried back to the dining room. There was something strange about Cragge and whatever it was; he was going to find out. He walked in to find the dwarf standing by the window. His body was tense and his eyes were focused on whatever was happening outside. Hodgenock quietly shuffled up behind him and peered outside. Max was being instructed by Esther on the back lawn.
“The boy has much to learn, but he will grow to become a great fighter one day,” he said, eying the dwarf. Cragge flinched at the sound of his voice, but continued staring out the window. “It's a curious thing as to how the Trith got into the Ostium,” said Hodgenock. “Even more curious is how the witch knew the boy has the stone.”
“Yes. Yes, it is,” said Cragge. He turned and hurried out of the room.
