Chapter 5

Damian POV

I woke up to someone kicking me harshly. "What the absolute f**k?", I growled as I opened my eyes. "Get up.", Daniel said coldly and walked away. I sighed. I knew he didn't like me w*****g around but...I just can't help it. I'm a 28 year old man and I have a needs, and my needs intensify cause I'm a Alpha Male.

I rolled over to come face to face with a pair of legs..Darren. I sighed again and got up. I didn't wake him up. I got up showered and did my daily routine. I came out and got dressed. As I was combing my hair I heard a growl. A f*****g growl. It was Daniel. Oh f**k! I sprinted down the stairs and into the living room just as he staggered and fell on his back on the couch. He was clutching his stomach. "Dane? Dane! Hey! What happened?", I asked frantically going to him. "Oh s**t!", came John's voice as he also came down. Everyone gathered in the living room.

There was a sob and a clink, we all turned towards the noise and my eyes widened at what I saw. It was Rose. Rose! f*****g Rose. And I glanced down at what fell from her hand and it was a.. A knife covered in blood. Daniel's blood. I froze. And then my blood begin to boil. I got up from crouching next to Daniel who was bleeding and panting and was going to go towards her when someone caught my hand.

"Don't! It w-was-wasn't h-her fa-ult." , he panted stuttering as his eyes closed. I begin to panic. Rose begin to cry hysterically. Alex hugged her and consoled her. Darren was awake now. He and John picked up Daniel and ran to the car. I was frozen to the spot. After a minute Dael shook me. "Dame! Dame! Please come with us." , she said frantically pulling at my hand. And I unfroze. I saw Diana and Daisy were crying, Dean was shaking with fear and Dael was on the verge of breaking down.

I pulled her in a hug and comforted her. "Shh shh. It's okay darling. It's gonna be fine." , I said. She nodded hurriedly and clutched me like her life depended on it. Daisy, Diana and Dean ran to us and hugged us. I hugged them all and comforted them. "Dame? What happened to Dane? Will he come back to us? Will he ... Will he..?" , Diana stuttered between sobs. "Shhh princess. Nothing will happen he's gonna jump with you tomorrow. Don't worry. Our Dane is strong you know that, right? He'll be okay. All will be okay." , I said. "Promise?" ,she asked looking at me with her big tearful doe like grey eyes. I gulped and nodded. How can I say no to those eyes. They were so much like mom's. I released a shaky breath and picked her and Dean up. I slowly went to their room and tucked them in bed. They both laid their heads on my lap and cried themselves to sleep. As soon as they were asleep I pulled the covers over them and kissed them on the forehead.

I came down to see that Rose was still crying and Alex was hugging her his jaw clenched. I clenched my jaw and looked away from her to see that Daisy was sleeping on Dael's lap as she was stroking her hair lovingly. I sat beside her and draped my arm around her shoulders. She put her head on my shoulder and sighed. 

"Are they okay?", she whispered. "Just tucked them to sleep." , I said. She nodded her head. She then gently put Daisy's head down and got up and went to Rose. Alex gently removed his arms from around her and got up and came to me. Dael took Rose in her embrace and rocked her. "Shh. It's okay it's okay. We believe you. Don't cry." , she cooed.

Alex was our cousin so Rose was practically our sister in law. She's very good ... But I don't know what happened. "Tell me Rose. What happened? I believe you, really. Just tell me what exactly happened?", I asked. She sniffled and gulped.

" I was just exploring the house. I was looking through the couches when I found a dagger tucked in them. It..It was a sil-silver dagger. I was shocked. I thought that if by any chance Dean or Diana got hold of it.. ", she trailed off gulping. I nodded at her for continuing. She breathed deeply and continued," so I thought I should hide it somewhere safe. I got up and was finding somewhere to hide that dagger when suddenly someone growled behind me. I was so shocked and scared I -- I I turned around suddenly and that dagger was pierced in Da..Dan..Daniel's... ", she began to sob. "I really didn't mean to. I was so absorbed in my work that I didn't hear him coming. I'm so sorry I'm so sorry. So sorry." , she continued sobbing. 

I sighed it wasn't her mistake. I got up and pulled her in a hug. She clutched my shirt and cried. I heard a low growl beside me. I looked up to see Alex scowling at us. I raised a brow, 'Really? Is it time to feel possessive?' I mind linked him. 'You'll  know when your mate comes.' He said simply.

I shook my head and patted Rose on her head for a last time and retreated just as my phone began to ring. I picked it up, "Damian." , it was John. "Yes? Is he alright?" ,I asked. He chuckled. "That man is made of stone." , he said his voice laced with humor. I laughed. He was fine. "The cut was pretty deep, but not deep enough to be fatal. And we know that guy... He's really made of rock. The doctor stitched him up. It will take time to heal as the dagger was silver. But all over, he is fine. There's no need to worry. The doctor sedated him. So he can rest. He'll be out for about an hour then we'll bring him back." , he said. I nodded then almost slapped myself because he can't see me.

"Okay.." , I said, "Thanks man. I don't know what I'll do without you guys." , I said truthfully. "Die of loneliness probably", he said chuckling. I laughed. "Your siblings needed you. And it was nothing I couldn't handle." , he said sincerely. " 'Kay I'll go now. Take care and don't worry. ", he said and the line went dead. I kept my phone down and looked up to see everyone looking at me expectantly. I told them what he told me and they nodded sighing in relief.

After about two hours there was the sound of car engine outside of the house and I almost sprinted outside. Daniel had clutched Darren's hand for support and they slowly came inside. Daniel looked a bit pale and his eyes looked dull but from the signature scowl on his face I knew that he was absolutely fine. As soon as he reached the living room Rose practically threw herself on him and began to cry hysterically mumbling sorry. He looked uncomfortable and winced at the contact. "Cease this immediately. I'm not your mate to cry on my shoulder. You're ruining my shirt. And.. I'm not that weak. A silly silver scratch won't kill me." , he said scowling and distancing himself from her. She laughed and pinched his cheek which deepened his scowl. "Look at his face." , John mumbled in my ear. And we broke into a laugh. He glared at us, but it wasn't very intense as he surely was in pain. That stubborn wolf just wouldn't show it. So I grabbed him and practically shoved him on his bed. 

"You will stay here until I say so." , I said sternly. He c****d his head to the side and gave me a Really b***h look. I sighed. 

"You need to rest. You didn't see how frightened they were when..when you..." ,I gulped. His eyes softened. "Don't worry, really. I'm fine, I promise. And I won't leave the bed if that's what you want. Okay?", he asked softly. I nodded and gave him a side hug. "Take rest. And you will not attend the Gala for obvious reasons. The council will understand.", I said standing up and leaving his room. 

" He looked so.. Pale. But I'm sure he'll be fine. ", Dael said softly as I was drinking my orange juice in the kitchen. I nodded my head. 

" I and Alex will stay with him and the twins. We'll take care of them today. ", Rose said. I figured she was still guilty about the incident so I agreed.

We were late for the Gala because of obvious reasons. We all means, Me, Darren, Dael, Daisy, John and Celia were attending the Gala. I was sure this year would be something different because Alpha of the Thunder Moon Pack was attending. I wonder how she is. I'm really looking forward to meet this mysterious she wolf.

We entered the Gala and it was filled with its chatter as usual. The Alphas, Lunas, Betas, etc from all over the world were present in their sophisticated glory. I scanned the crowd and began walking inside.

I took a deep breath it was the scent of many different wolves as usual and..And Vanilla and strawberries?

Huh? Does that even makes sense? My wolf began to pace inside me.

What's wrong Roy? Roy was my wolf's name. I'm not sure. There must be something special today. He said. Good or bad? I asked.

Good, Dumb ass. He replied huffing.

I rolled my eyes at him and breathed to see if the scent is still there. I breathed again and this time there was no mistake, it was surely the delicious scent of vanilla and strawberries. I raked my eyes through the crowd for the scent and...And it landed on a she wolf away from me.

To say she was beautiful would be an understatement. She was so f*****g gorgeous. She was wearing a royal green gown. She held herself like a queen. Her posture was strong. She was about 6 ft tall. Impressive. Roy growled. I agreed with him. Her hair was raven black long and straight which were rested on her lean shoulders. Delicate wouldn't be the word to describe her. Her body looked toned. I gulped her curves were obvious from the dress. The right amount of curves in the right places. Her lips..Holy f**k! Her lips were a beautiful shade of red. Inviting me to kiss them, to run my tongue over them. And at that moment my eyes locked with her. My body shivered. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of brown. But I couldn't understand the shade.

She was looking at me. Her gaze lingered on my lips and then her eyes again came to meet mine. Mate Mate Mate. Roy growled in joy. She realized the same thing as I saw her eyes widen in realization. 

My lips curled in a smile and she gulped. I was so happy I had found my mate and she was perfect. So damn perfect. Her gaze suddenly faltered and it looked like she's nervous or afraid? I breathed heavily.

I started to walk towards her to see.. "Alpha Damian? Alpha Damian!" , a voice interrupted me. I tore my gaze away from her and saw that Alpha Valentine the Alpha of Snow Moon pack was standing before me with his Luna and son. He was my good friend but right now isn't the time. I took a deep breath and gave him a fake smile. "Alpha Valentine." , I nodded and returned his hand shake. "Luna" , I nodded at her. And she gave me a warm smile. He greeted everyone and I tapped my foot on the floor impatiently. What's wrong man? John asked me through mind link. Nothing. I growled back.

As soon as the Alpha was approached by someone else I immediately looked over where my mate was standing and she wasn't there anymore. I searched through the crowd and she wasn't there anywhere. 

Her scent was fading which meant that she left. Left? Just like that?
