Chapter 15

Audenzia pov

I needed to get out of here before anyone noticed. I got up from my chair and opened the door. To my horror Ethan was standing there with a bewildered expression. With great effort I made my blank face and raised a brow questioningly at him.

“Are you…are you okay?” He asked softly, reaching out to me he kept his hand on my shoulder. I gave him a cold look at which he rolled his eyes “There’s no issue whatsoever. You can go back to your mate.” I said icily and stormed off not responding to his shouts.

I strode out of the pack house and to my utmost surprise Macy reached out to me. I could feel my eyes begun to water so lunged in the tree line and shifted. I ran. Ran till I was exhausted and went to the one place which I had managed to avoid so far. I shifted back into my human form and opened the gate.

I opened the door and went in. Silence. It was just silence and the dark room that greeted me. A wave of nostalgia hit me. I wasn’t able to breath as a lump formed in my throat. I let out a howl. And Macy soothed me with her calming presence.

You came back. I said.

I had to. You needed me. She stated softly.

I could feel her pain. She was in so much pain. I’m horrible.

Don’t think like that Audenzia. I know you love me. Macy tried to console me.

They’re right Macy I’m heartless. I’m heartless… I breath out.

She sighs softly. You’re not. She simply states and goes in the back of mind.

What happens next makes me lose my footing as I stumble forward in the house. I slowly reach out and switch on the light as another wave of something hits me.

I don’t know what it is. It’s just so overwhelming. It’s as if I’m replaying everything that happened with me. The death of my parents, hiding the coven, the responsibilities, seeing my mate, rejecting him, fight with Macy and the fight with Vale. It all came crashing down at me at once and it became hard to breathe as waves of emotions hit me. A throaty sob escaped me and then I was full on sobbing.

Third person pov

Audenzia began to sob clutching her chest as images after images flashed in her mind. She didn’t know how and why suddenly she was feeling these many emotions  after so many years of nonchalance. She let out howl after, painful howl as painful and unbearable memories started to engrave in her mind.

Audenzia cried that night, cried for the loss of her parents, cried because she couldn’t cry, cried because she had to be strong and cried because she lost her mate, cried because she lost her sister.

After her body could no longer take it physically, she collapsed on the ground with silent tears.

Audenzia pov

I don’t remember sleeping on the floor. But as the beams of sunlight hit my face and I get up with a throbbing head, sore throat and swollen eyes all the memories of last night came crashing down on me.

My whole body is aching from sleeping on the floor. I get up slowly and sit down, my face in my hands taking deep breaths.

You okay? Came Macy’s hesitant voice.

I don’t know. I reply softly

Do you still think you’re heartless? She asked

What do you mean? I ask in confusion

After everything I made you feel last night, do you still think that you’re heartless? She elaborated

What do you mean you made me feel? I ask suddenly wide awake. Is something wrong here?

She hesitates.

Tell me Macy. I press.

She takes a deep breath and starts,

That day when your parents died was the last day you ever cried. After that day something happened and suddenly, unconsciously you pushed all your intense emotions to me. All your sadness and grief were lifted off from you. You didn’t exactly turn your emotions off but something just happened. Even I can’t tell what happened. So all these years all the human emotions you should feel are passed on to me. That’s why you can’t feel anything intensely. So, yesterday I just passed onto you a fragment of your emotions that I’ve been carrying all these years. I just did it so that you could strop blaming yourself unnecessarily.

I’m speechless by the time Macy finished. I literally don’t know what to say. It’s so shocking. I feel ashamed for putting Macy through so many things all these years. And I still treated her like s**t.

I’m so sorry Macy. I say finally.

It’s okay. I just want you to know that I’m not your enemy. I understand you; I feel you and I am you. She says.

What do you want me to do? I ask softly.

Give him a chance. She doesn’t need to tell who she’s talking about.

But… will he… after I… I trail off

He will. She says confidently. I’m sure he will, I’m not telling you to go and mate him Zia. Just give him a chance. It’s worth it. You deserve it, we deserve it. Please.

I take a deep breath.

Okay. I say. But what if he does something after knowing the truth?

There’s a pause.

I’ll kill him and his whole pack with my own claws. She says finally.

My eyes widen at her promise. I know it’s very hard to say that for her. I can’t even imagine how much she would’ve gone through before taking the decision. So I instantly agree.

Okay. I say.

I could feel her happiness radiate, I smile softly. I get up wordlessly and go out. I shift without any trouble and run to the pack house. Unlike yesterday, I don’t take long paths, I simply run straight and today I could feel a freeness I hadn’t felt.

I shift back in my human form as the pack house comes into view. I get in and go to my room. There’s a knock in my room after I’ve done showering.

“Come in” I say confused as to who it might be. Ethan comes in and I feel guilty again.

He smiles at me and his eyes go to the duffel bag I was packing. “You’re going back.” It wasn’t a question. I nod and turn back to packing. I can feel his eyes on me. He sighs frustrated and turns me around. I look in his eyes questioningly.

“What’s wrong? And what is this rejecting your mate nonsense?”  He asks sternly. I sigh. I knew this was coming. “I’m going to go fix it.” I smile. He looks at me for a moment, scrutinizing me and then he suddenly pulls me in a hug. “You better.” He whispers. I smile and put my arms around him.

We pull away and I pack what’s remaining. “I’ll be on my way now. Inform Charlotte for me, will you?” I ask him. He nods “Will you avoid coming here again?” He asks uncertainly. I grin “I won’t” I say. A brilliant smile spreads over his handsome face. “I’ll be waiting for the next time then.” He says.

I nod and teleport. I’m back in my room in Georgia. I quickly go out and go to the second floor where everyone’s offices are situated. I knock on the beta’s office and I hear a polite ‘come in’.

I go in and am met with Charles, Antony and Gloria who are working. Glo gasps as she sees me. She gets up quickly and engulfs me in her warm hug. “Where the hell were you?” She asks shaking me. “Miami” I say.

Her eyes widen and she looks back at An who’s sharing the same look as her. He comes over and gives me a side hug. The door is burst open as Rick and Sarah come in.

“We heard that our Alpha has deemed us a visit and thought we should visit her before she goes on a trip again.” Sarah says sarcastically. Rick nudges her and she scowls at him. I feign a glare at her and she rolls her eyes at me. I smile at all of them. This is home. I missed them. But I wasn’t gonna tell them that any time soon.

We all settle down on chairs. “Where’s Vale?” I ask after a moment of hesitation. “Oh, she didn’t come home since three days.” Glo replied. I nodded gulping. I cleared my throat and looked over at An. “I… I need your help in finding the Blood Moon pack territory.” I blurt out uneasily. His eyes widen and he smiles.

 “I’ll be glad to” He mutters before going to his laptop.

Everyone else is looking at me happily “That hot Alpha guy of yours will be happy” Sarah comments. Rick growls at her and she rolls her eyes “He’s younger than my son” she says in a duh tone. I snort.

“Here it is” he says and shows me a map kind of thing. I look it over and nod. Blood moon is in Pennsylvania. “Okay let’s get back to work” I say. “Aren’t you gonna go there?” Rick asks.

“I am. But I’ll go tomorrow after I’ve overviewed your works.” I say. They all nod and we get back to work.
