Chapter 10When Angela came downstairs to the kitchen she'd forgotten that Rex was there and was startled to see him. He lay on the car rug on the kitchen floor, relaxed, as if he didn't have a care in the world. The dog didn't get up when she entered the room, but merely lifted his head and wagged his tail, making a thumping noise against the laminate floor. When she said, “Hello Rex,” he stood and stretched, made a 'humph' sound then came over to her and nuzzled her hand. As she prepared breakfast he sniffed the air, licking his lips expectantly.
