Chapter 9Angela was shattered when she got home from work and she was experiencing a number of emotions, none of them good. She felt heavy with sadness, imagining Mary Gregory's terror, her pain and her anxiety for her unborn child. She was unnerved and edgy, fearing that John Baptiste could be just around the next corner, waiting to strike again. When she entered her house all was quiet. Bobby should have been home, she thought, a jag of fear hitting her in the chest. She called out, “Bobby, are you in? Are you okay?” She was met with silence. Leaving the front door open, 'don't bar your escape route', a voice in her head warned, her police training kicking in.
