I am home again, sneaking into the house as quietly as I can. I try to go to my room without being noticed, but then, as I pass by a big living room, the lights suddenly turn on, and in there I see my father sitting, looking very displeased. I sigh and walk closer, knowing I can’t avoid the confrontation we are going to have.
“Father…” I begin. “You are up late.”
“You are the one coming home late.”
“I thought I made it clear I was going to be with Tobias.”
“And I thought I made myself clear that that would not happen.”
“You can’t stop me, Dad,” I state.
“Sit down, Lauren.”
