"Darling, I want to make amends for my mistakes. Will you let me?" Pascal said. "Of course, I would be happy to fulfill my husband's wish." A fake smile spread across Petra's lips. Before saying anything else, Pascal downed the rest of his wine. "Since we got married, we haven't slept together like newlyweds." A blush appeared on Pascal's pale cheeks. He smiled shyly. But Petra tensed up. "Do you want us to go on a honeymoon?" Petra guessed. "You're right. But I have so much work. Can't we just honeymoon here in the mansion?" "You're drunk, Pascal." Petra was cautious. "No... I'm not completely drunk yet. I can still clearly see your blushing face." "W-what!" Petra was nervous. Her heart was pounding. She moved back, but Pascal moved forward, cornering Petra on the sofa. "Petra... My wife." He grabbed the nape of Petra's neck. Pascal closed the distance, trying to reach Petra's slightly wet lips from the drink. "You drive me crazy." Pascal sighed, tilting his head. "Wait a minute!" Petra could feel Pascal's kiss pressing gently. Damn Liam, the liar! Why isn't the drug working, and why is it making this man even more aggressive? "Pascal, I don't want to sleep with a drunk man," Petra said, pushing against his shoulders. A classic excuse that saved her. "I'm not drunk, darling." Pascal disagreed. "Try to look, how many fingers am I holding up?" Petra showed two fingers in front of his face. But to Pascal, it looked like moving shadows. Pascal felt dizzy. It should have been easy to answer, but the man was already quite drunk. "Four." Petra sighed in relief. "Before you sleep, will you tell me what you're hiding from me? That way, I will forgive you." Petra patiently probed for something she wanted to know without arousing suspicion from the interlocutor. "I have no secrets from you." The same answer. Petra had tried this approach before without getting any clues. "Take a look at this photo." A picture of a man's face on a phone screen was shown to Pascal by Petra. "Do you know him?" "Hmmm." Pascal seemed to think, squinting his eyes, trying to sharpen his memory. "I think I've seen him somewhere. His face looks familiar." "Where? Try to remember again." Petra urged. "He's the governor's son, isn't he?" Pascal said. Yes, he was the governor's son who had died from a gunshot wound. Petra was full of suspicion towards Pascal. "Have you ever met him?" Petra asked again. "We once had a business partnership." Pascal stumbled and fell onto Petra's shoulder, who was sitting beside him. "Hey, don't sleep yet!" Petra still needed more detailed information. But seeing Pascal sleep so soundly made Petra reluctantly let him. "Sleep well, my husband." A gentle stroke landed on Pascal's head. While Petra's heart itched, their recent conversation seemed to be on the verge of a breakthrough. Knowing that this man and the governor's son had a business relationship was a clue for Petra. It meant they had met at some point, didn't it? *** Bang! A gunshot pierced the chest of a man who had been captured. He died instantly. "Does anyone else want to end up like him?" Pascal shouted in front of his subordinates. They all remained silent, heads bowed. "The betrayal he committed against me will not be forgiven!" Pascal's firmness made their courage shrink, even though everyone here was burly and large. "Take care of the body!" Pascal walked away from the dark basement, followed by a man in a black suit beside him. "What is the progress on the information I was looking for?" Pascal asked. "There are no CCTV recordings showing anyone putting something in your drink, no clues at all when you were drinking there at the time," Varios replied. He was an assistant, Pascal's loyal right-hand man. "We also interrogated the waitstaff working that night. There was no solid evidence in any form." "What about the b***h?" Pascal had killed her with his own hands yesterday after getting all the information about her. "She was seen on CCTV with you, accompanying you while you drank. Then you both went to the hotel room," Varios explained. "But we found a message from your number, asking her to come to that hotel." This additional statement made Pascal stop in his tracks and freeze. "What did you say? A message from me?" Pascal couldn't believe the statement. It felt very strange to him. "Yes. See for yourself." Varios then showed the woman's phone. Pascal was very surprised to read the message. The number displayed on the screen was indeed his. He immediately checked his own phone, searching for the message history there. "What?" Pascal was shocked. There was indeed a record of the message. Pascal repeatedly confirmed that the number it was sent to was the woman's number. "Impossible." He mumbled, shaking his head. "Varios! Have I ever experienced amnesia or an accident?" Pascal was astonished but hopeful. "No, Pascal. Not at all." Varios' confident answer made Pascal even more confused. "I don't feel or remember ever hiring that b***h that night. I never typed such a message!" "How could that be?" Varios was also confused. "Could your phone have been tapped?" Varios' guess brought new tension. "Tapped? Who would tap my phone?" Varios didn't respond. He was as clueless as Pascal about this question. "Find out, Varios. Investigate secretly." "Yes, sir!" *** "Why did you ask me to meet in a place like this?" Liam complained, feeling disgusted by the narrow, dirty alley full of trash. "No place is safer and more hidden than here," Petra said. "Say it quickly. I can't stand the smell here." Liam covered his nose with his arm. "Find out what kind of business relationship Pascal had with the governor's son." "What?" Liam was shocked. "Do you mean they had such a relationship?" "I heard it directly from that man's mouth. By the way, your drug wasn't much help." "At least it saved you from the plan to sleep with him, right?" Liam retorted. Petra just snorted, frowning. "I need that drug again." Liam smirked. "Don't get the wrong idea," Petra snapped, disliking Liam's annoying confidence. "With that drug, he gets drunk more easily. Knowing he has a very high alcohol tolerance." "Alright. Is that all you wanted to say?" Liam replied. "I'll be waiting for your next information." Petra said goodbye and walked towards the bus stop. Suddenly a car stopped at the curb. The window rolled down, and someone inside called her name. "Petra! My wife!" Petra stood frozen in shock. It was Pascal. Not long after Petra parted from Liam in the dirty alley, she now met Pascal? Did he see her come out of the alley, or had he been following her from the beginning? ***
