Unconditional Admiration

1029 Words
Cool air rushed into my mouth as it dropped open, my eyes wide unable to believe what I was staring at. Natalia was kissing a… woman? Am I just deceived by my sight? But honestly, kissing didn't really describe what they were doing. It was more of making out and they seemed like they had no damn care at all around them. Natalia even pulled the blonde woman onto her lap and her arms had gone around her. They were clinging to each other, kissing shoulders, necks, and then back to their lips. I was so lost and shocked, the sound of a phone ringing made me jump a foot into the air. I realized it was my own phone which was vibrating in my pocket. "Oh, s**t!" It was too late for me to turn it off or set it to freaking goddamn mute because I already caught the attention of Natalia and the blonde woman! They didn't mind tearing themselves from each other but the way they stare back at me, they seemed to mentally murder me. "Charley?" Natalia's forehead contracted as she stood, dumping the woman to the couch. "Do you need something?" "I, um… g-going to the kitchen," I stuttered, wanting to take a step but I just froze. The phone was still ringing so I turned it off this time without checking who the freaking caller could be. A growl fell from the blonde woman's mouth. "Then, why are you still standing right there, huh? Are you thirsty for the water or to a private show?" she snapped. Fixing the straps of her gown, she turned to Natalia after rolling her eyes at me. "Who is she, Natty?" She was pointing her index finger at me, irritation was tangible on her face. "Amanda, this is Charley; she's my son's new nanny," Natalia remarked from the end of the stairs. Then she motioned with her hand for me to come down the stairs. Some of the buttons on her long-sleeved blouse were already undone, but she didn't even bother to mend them. I raced down the stairs, my feet echoing with each step. When I got to the ground, I was almost out of breath. What will she tell me? Oh, no. Is she going to scold me because I was unabashedly watching them, or because I arrived late? Has Lydia told her about it? I was ready to be yelled at when Natalia smiled and patted my shoulder. "How was your trip getting back here? Did the long-hour travel upset you?" I slowly nodded, but I couldn't stop staring at her. Wow, she wasn't mad with me. "Oh, that was OK. I really just got thirsty. I'm... I'm sorry if I interrupted your... your..." Sweat began to drip from my brow. Why do I have to bring it up? However, she seemed not affected when I caught them. She just sighed. "Don't apologize about it," she said and tapped my shoulder again. "You can go to the kitchen now. But don't just drink water. Eat before you head back to your room." That wasn't even just a suggestion. It was more of an order that I should be following. "I will. Thank you so much, Miss Natalia." I took a glance at the blonde woman before I went to the kitchen. She kept on grumbling on the couch. Wait, did I hear she called me b***h? I discovered a tray of wrapped sandwiches on the table. I ate two of them and drank two glasses of water. I felt much better after giving myself time to eat dinner. Despite the fact that I wanted to stay for a little longer or go for a walk around the place, I decided to climb upstairs to my room. When I was going to turn the knob on my door, I noticed Natalia kissing in front of the room at the end of the hallway. As they reached for the door, they began to shred each other's clothes. I turned my sight to my doorknob and entered my room before they caught me looking at them again. I opened my cell phone while I lay in bed to set the alarm. That's when I noticed Hogue's name in the missed call registry. I dialed his number, and he answered the phone after the first ring. "H-hey, babe… Yeah, I'm okay. I got here safely. Sorry if I wasn't able to get your call at once. My phone has just got drained… Aw, you're so sweet. Okay, you too. I love you. Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite…" I hung up the phone on the bedside table and buried my face in the pillow after our conversation. Guilt was pricking my heart because I had lied to Hogue for the first time. But how could I tell him that I had dropped his call a while ago since, at the same time, I was staring at Natalia and her girlfriend as they kissed on the couch like there was no tomorrow? Natalia was a lesbian, but she preferred to hide her true self from the public. However, for me, I would say that the s****l orientation of a person was not a problem at all. I'm straight, but I respect them. However, because I was working for a tabloid newspaper, Hogue must have known everything that was going on inside this house because I was the Daily Express's spy in the first place. I'm supposed to wire him any information about Natalia. But, for the time being, I wanted to keep the details to myself. But, to be honest, I had no idea that she was a lesbian because she had a son. Anyway, my point was that since there was no news about Natalia dating other men, she might still be interested in Austin's father. Wow, I was already learning a lot about her on the first day in the house. She was, indeed, an interesting topic on which to concentrate my efforts. In any case, no matter what secrets she was keeping, she was still amazing. And although intimidating sometimes. I still admired her.
