"1... 2..." I mumble under my breath as I focus on my target moving my bow and arrow keeping it trained on the greasy appearenced demon slave trade owner who wears a smug expression as he counts an enormous wad of cash a client gave him to find an endangered species of supernatural being for him. Aiming straight at the demon's chest the tight tension of my bow string loosens as a spell casted arrow flies from the bow piercing straight into the heart of the man. "Gotcha." I whisper to myself as he falls without a sound hitting the cold hard cement floor instantly dead from the lethal arrow. The client watches the dead body in pure terror as blood flows out from the demon's chest. Knowing better than to stick around after a kill I look away from the tiny opening peeking into the run down warehouse and jump down from my perched position in a tree. Landing swiftly and silently in a crouch, quickly I stand up running off into the darkness of the night sticking to the shadows as much as possible so I seamlessly blend in.
When I'm a safe distance away from my now dead target and sure nobody followed me, I turn on my earpiece hitting the call button automatically connecting to the leader of the organization a.k.a. my father. After the first ring a husky voice belonging to my dad comes through the line. "Black Death." A smirk crosses my face at the code name, in less than a year my code name changed from Black Fluff to Black Death. Being called Black Fluff was humiliating but my dad insisted on it due to my black fluffy ears, my name was only changed because supernaturals started whispering about an assassin who was like the black plague, nicknamed the black death that wiped out who knows how many humans hundreds of years ago but instead of humans I wipe out dangerous supernaturals with ease. Secretly what everyone was calling me made pride bloom throughout me for becoming well known in such a short time. My father is one of the most known and respected supernaturals in history but I'm slowly taking over that position as more and more hear about the nameless faceless assassin.
"Mission Completed." My voice laced with arrogance as I respond hearing a barely audible sound from the other end, a chuckle gets stuck in my throat imagining my dad rolling his eyes at my cockiness I didn't bother hiding.
"New information will be sent to you tonight."
"I'll go over it first thing." There's silence from dad making me frown so I tap on my ear piece to make sure it's working. After a minute a sigh comes through letting me know I'm still connected on the line.
"You need to take a break, maybe take a vacation or something." He tries to hide the slight sadness in his tone but I catch it making me sigh myself. I became an assassin when I was eighteen and I haven't took a vacation since occasionally there's times where my assignments are a few days scattered leaving me with free time but I use those few days to visit my large and still growing family. My parents can't keep their hands to themselves resulting in having an unbelievable amount of twenty children. Half of my siblings are already starting families of their own.
"No vacation, maybe I'll wait a day or two before I start the next mission." I shrug even though he can't see it. There's no need for something as trivial as a vacation especially when all good vacation spots are crowded with humans, I'm not exactly a fan of crowded places probably because due to being on missions by myself I've grown used to the solitude.
"Fine take tomorrow and the next day off or I'll stop giving you missions." My face blanches at his threat, there's no way in hell I'll let him cut off my missions! "Don't bother arguing about it either." With that he cuts the call making me want to stomp my foot like a toddler. The down side of your boss being your dad is he mixes his personal feelings with work, any other boss would probably love handing me new missions as soon as I'm done with the previous one not forcing me to take a vacation or atleast a few days off.
Leaning against a tree I stare ahead taking in the lights of the town ahead, which looks so huge at night when it's actually a low populated area. It's amazing how all those street and store lights can make a place seem much bigger in the dark. That small town is a place I can call home even though I have several other houses and apartments all around the world in some of the biggest cities and some in the most rural of areas none of them strike me as homey as this town.
A strong breeze starts blowing making my jacket hood fall off my head revealing my black ears and black hair that whips around my porcelain face. Closing my eyes I relish the feel of the wind taking a deep breath inhaling the serene scents of the forest calming my aggravated attitude. My mother being a kitsune/fox spirit she is a fox shifter who oddly lived in different forests for a thousand years loving every second of it and I believe I inherited her love of the dense plantation full of solitude with nothing but scurrying animals. Pulling my hood up making sure my ears aren't visible, then begin the short trek down a steep hill to the town.
Getting to the outskirts of town I reach behind a bush pulling out a innocent looking duffel bag, instead of having a black or camouflage bag mine is soft pink to make it less conspicuous when I carry it around. Quickly I unarm myself of all weapons except a few hidden ones stuffing them into the bag along with my belt that has weapons all over it, it's rare that there's ever a need for more than one weapon but a few times I've come face to face with a group of beings surrounding my target so the extra weapons are needed. Taking off my face covering that comes up to my eyes and my jacket I stuff them into the bag switching them out for a dark red knit beanie and a red and white plaid long sleeve shirt giving me a normal appearance, putting the beanie on my head I make sure my ears are completely hidden, wouldn't exactly be smart if the humans saw me walking around with fox ears. I zip up the bag crossing it over my torso and walk at a nonchalant pace, humans find it suspicious if they see you run or walk too fast. To make myself appear even more normal I reach into my front pants pocket pulling out an IPod placing the ear buds in my ears and listen to heavy metal, no one ever pays any attention to the person walking down the street listening to music.
Each time a human passes by on the street I have to force my nose from scrunching up at the scents radiating off them, why they love perfume is confusing to me, it's torture for those of us supernaturals that have enhanced smell, since it's late half the humans reek of alcohol and vomit torturing my sense of smell. Us supernaturals don't use anything like perfume, besides the stench of it is too much for us to handle, it also makes it hard to distinguish different scents belonging to each type of being. Being the only hybrid of my kind nobody can guess exactly what I am, they can pick up the fallen angel smell but don't know the kitsune scent since only those in the organization know of kitsunes existing so I just confuse any supernatural that tries to figure out what I am. It's neat but with my job if someone was to pick up my scent it would quickly spread about the odd scent and would take no time before I was found out and more than likely killed.
After walking a few miles through town going past all the businesses and luxurious houses, I see a beautiful one story house surrounded by a few acres of land standing out from the rest of the large houses that barely have a lawn. A smile creeps across my face at the sight of the cobblestone home with a chimney that is so homey and inviting looking nestled between several trees. Unlocking the chain link fence gate I strut down the dirt path happy to be home, my target was really close to my home but having to do stakes out at the warehouse I haven't been able to come home in a week forcing me to sleep on the rough bark of the forest trees. As much as I like the forest I'm not a big fan of sleeping in tree limbs for days at a time. When I get within ten feet of the house I feel the electric push of walking through the protection barrier surrounding my dwelling, my mom can do magic so she placed protection spells around all her children's homes just in case since her kitsune daughters are rare species and I'm the only one of my kind, so the protection is probably needed even though half my family lives in or near the organization headquarters which is pretty much impenetrable having hundreds of warriors, spells and booby traps everywhere. The protection spell that is cast around the house is unique where only I or family members can enter it's force field. Unless I'm physically touching someone no one else can enter. There's also no way to get rid of the spell except for a powerful witch but luckily for me there's no old witches after me there are hundreds wanting me dead but none know my identity so it's useless, they don't even know I work for the organization, only a choice few actually in the organization know they have the world's top assassin but they keep their mouths shut not wanting to risk any unforeseen attacks or my death.
Entering my house I take a deep breath savoring the smell of my furniture, incense, cleaner and old books. Believe it or not but incense can cover my own scent so I use it around the house just in case someone manages to break in they won't know a supernatural being lives here. Finding a being's private home especially an unguarded one is like hitting the lottery cause we tend to keep rare valuables to our kind but just like my parent's homes they are intricately hidden so there's no chance of them being found and if they manage to figure out one of my living room walls is actually a door there's plenty of security measures they'll have to go through which will be impossible, my mom has a very powerful witch friend who tried out the security for me and she couldn't even manage to find a way in. First thing I do is go straight to my living room that is designed in a modern black and white style, a large flat screen television hangs above the fireplace that is adorned with pictures of my large family who are hiding their wings, ears, tails and wearing colored contacts to cover pink eyes making themselves appear human, once again just in case of a break in it'll help appear as if a human lives here.
Making sure the black out curtains are drawn closed I go to the only wall that doesn't have windows or fireplace then hit on it in a special sequence of knocks. The wall opens up revealing a thick metal door with several keypads, retina and finger print scanner that you have to do in a certain order, first I put in the twelve digit pass code in the middle keypad that turns on the retina scanner. Bending down I center my pink eye in front of the red light coming out, once it flashes green I move my head so the mismatched blue eye is being scanned. One thing about having heterochromia is my eyes are unique, the only being in the world with pink and blue eyes which is also an indicator that I'm a hybrid, all hybrids have different colored eyes. Next I type in a pass code on another keypad immediately lighting up the finger print scanner, unlike most scanners that require just your index finger mine requires you to use all ten of your fingers. One by one I place each finger on the small pad causing lights to flash and beeps ring out, being done with that I punch in the password of the final keypad making the door swing open with a loud creak. One neat thing about my security system is that if you do manage to learn the pass codes and somehow use my finger prints and eyes you have to enter everything in a special sequence, if you don't enter it right the door will still open but you'll die as soon as you past the threshold due to invisible laser beams, enchantments and booby traps. It's definitely over kill to most but there are lots of items in my possession every creature would literally kill for including almost extinct creatures.
The humble looking four room cobblestone house quickly turns into an enormous underground bunker with many rooms from weapons area, training facility, artificial creature habitats and rooms full of old books and rare items. Descending the dark creaky wooden stairs I clap my hands turning on all the lights in the bunker aside from the creature habitats that are on timers to accommodate each species, getting to the end of the staircase a snort escapes my lips at the sight of the room that appears to be a man cave game room, arcade machines litter the area with a pool table in the center and foosball table, a single older style worn couch is sitting in front of a tv that has every game console and game you can think of. This room is mainly for the use of my siblings whenever they come to visit, occasionally I will play some video games but with my occupation there's not much time to play video games. Maneuvering around the room I go down a large hallway stopping at the first door, turning the knob I unconsciously smile, this is my favorite place to be, the weapons room. Opening the door my eyes gaze over the different types of weapons lining the walls and in cases, the walls are black with LED lights shining brightly over each weapon, a black counter with multiple drawers sits in the middle of the room containing tear gas, grenades, silver grenades, flash grenade, pretty much any kind of grenade and different potions that can be used in a fight. Walking to the counter I place my duffel bag on top of it unloading the small artillery inside, due to these being my favorite and most used weapons instead of placing them on the walls or in the cases like the others I neatly organize them on the counter even leaving the ammo and arrows with the weapons instead of putting them in the ammunition closet, plus if something were to happen I would need to get my magic enchanted arrows as fast as possible. My mom enchanted the arrows and they can kill just about any supernatural creature so it's imperative they stay within my grasp, if some evil or dark being got their hands on these arrows the could easily kill whoever they want with no trouble.
Next I go to the huge warehouse sized room that holds many of the organizations rare creatures, it's too dangerous for the organization to keep them all in their headquarters or other places so they split them up and have the most trusted members take care of a few. Entering the room chirping starts as a small creature about the size of a small dog that looks like a mini green dragon with tiny wings comes flying towards me, I giggle when he blows hot breath creating a puff of smoke in my face, nobody has been able to recognize what this little guy is they believe he is a hybrid of sorts but one thing is for sure about him, he thinks he's a dragon that can breath fire when he can't, he can understand all languages and he's very attached to me.
"Hello there to you too." He chirps in reply then perches himself on my shoulder like he is some kind of pet bird. With him happily on my shoulder I quickly exit the habitat room, there's no need for me to be there since I stock the creatures up with a months worth of food and water since I'm not here too often and if I'm gone too long my dad or siblings come by to check on them. Rex doesn't need any kind of special kind of environment to live in so there's no need for him to have a habitat so when I'm home he gets to just fly around the house also the other creatures can't stand him because he torments them annoying them beyond belief. Somehow he manages to get into the the cages and fake glass that makes up the habitats and steals the creatures food and pulls pranks on them so it's best to keep Rex out of the giant room so the creatures can have temporary peace. "Let's go upstairs." My voice is soft as I scratch under his chin like you would any normal pet causing him to purr in delight like a cat.
At a leisure pace I ascend the creaky wooden stairs leading upstairs into the house. Rex flies off my shoulder deciding to hover around my head as we make it to the top of the staircase, the hidden security door immediately closes and locks as soon as we enter the living room, a few times I've forgotten to lock the door back when I've came back up from the hidden area so I made it to where it automatically locks to prevent another mistake like that. The mini dragon hybrid happy to be in the house flies off into the kitchen so he can raid the cabinets for anything he wants to eat, we have never been able to figure out what his diet should be but since nothing has seemed to make him sick or harm him in any way the little monster can eat whatever he wants. Plopping down on the couch I grab my laptop off the coffee table logging into my email account as fast as my fingers will type eager to learn the details of my next mission. Ignoring the sounds of Rex knocking food out of the cabinets I focus on the unopened email my eyes sparkling as I click it open.
As my eyes greedily read the information a frown crosses my features at the lack of information including a picture, there's only a generic description of his looks, no last name, no position rank or occupation. Usually no matter how low profile a supernatural is the organization is able to dig up every single detail of the target, here there's only a possibility of where he resides where he could be hiding easily blending in with hundreds of beings and hair color, possible eye color and height range. The lack of information is baffling considering how easy the organization can find things out, we have the greatest spies alive and incredibly huge network we use to learn everything. "Cameron... blue or green eyes... between 6'0ft to 6'5... blonde hair.... possibly living in the Blood Moon werewolf pack." I mumble to myself almost growling in frustration, if that is where he lives that's the biggest shifter pack in the world finding someone named Cameron with blonde hair will be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. "Seriously!" I groan out leaning my head back on the couch running a hand through my hair. "Guess I'll have to take this into my own hands."
Not moving from my position I reach into my pocket pulling out my cell phone, I have a connection of my own that I deem even more reliable than the organization at times. Hitting the speed dial I wait patiently for the person on the other end to answer, luckily they pick up on the first ring. "How's my little fox hybrid doing?"
Holding in a groan I reply. "Matt I need you." A low growl comes through the phone making my eyes roll. "Not in that way you perverted vampire I need help getting information.
"Haven't heard from you in over a week, you haven't called me over for a special visit in over a month and out of nowhere you finally call only to ask for information?"
Oh how I wish my hand could go through the phone so I could smack him upside the head. "If you come over and look for what I want you'll get a special reward." My voice turns seductive at the end.
"I'll be there shortly beautiful." He hangs up the call as soon as he finishes the sentence.
Knowing it'll take him maybe an hour to pack up the equipment he uses for his research and to drive here I force myself to get off the couch to shower. If it was anyone else I wouldn't worry about how I look but we are 'special' friends so I don't think it would be too hot if I had several days worth of dirt and sweat on me plus the leaves and twigs that are more than likely in my hair, the cave woman look isn't exactly sexy. "Matt is coming over." I call over my shoulder to Rex who is more than likely eating his fill of my food, if I don't warn him that someone is coming over he attacks like an attack animal even if it's my family that he's met hundreds of times. Also letting him know means he can't disturb Matt and I, even though he is a creature he does know exactly what happens when the vampire enters my bedroom. A slow smirk crosses my lips as I think of what is going to happen tonight, I can't wait for my vampire friend to get here.
After I'm cleaned up and dressed into some fresh shorts and crop top showing off my toned stomach and part of my side tattoo, I saunter into the living room smirking when I see my sexy vampire finishing setting up his computer equipment, a purr escapes me as I stare at his lean biceps. The only reason he is able to enter the protection spell is because he owns a special bracelet that has a stone made with my blood and the hemp band has some of my hair weaved into it. Luckily for me he respects me enough to not show up whenever he wants or enter my house when I'm not here. "You got here much faster than I expected."
Matt wears a panty dropping smirk as he turns his head eying me up and down. "Can't keep a gorgeous girl waiting."
"Speaking of waiting, I've been waiting for a week to call you." At my words he gets up off the couch making his way to me, as soon as he's in front of me I run a finger down his chiseled chest seductively making him involuntarily groan.
"Since you've been waiting for so long why don't we go ahead and catch up." A cocky half smile crosses my mouth right before his lips smash into mine. Before I can process what's happening our clothes are torn and we are in my bedroom as I'm slammed onto the bed, both our bodies consumed with lust for each other.
