New Job
Via's POV "You said you're still rendering at your current job, when can you start then?" Sir Jason asked me. He is part of the recruitment team. "I need to render for a month. Is that alright?" My current job is an accounting clerk in a distributor company of imported chocolates, condiments, canned goods and fabric conditioners. I said earlier that I submitted my resignation and I am already rendering because they might not accept me, but the truth is when I wake up earlier I just don't feel like going to work so I took the day off and I was offered by a friend to apply here. So here I am, trying my luck today and I am lucky enough to get a new job.  "The next wave will start in two weeks. You have two weeks. Talk with your HR, I know they will understand." He replied while giving me a reassuring look. By the way, wave is the term in a BPO company for the new hires. New hires are trained per batches or wave. Yes, I applied in a call center. Aside from this job pays decently well compared to my current job, this job doesn't require over time and it's always a two days off.  "Sure, I will talk to them." I said confidently.  " You have a week to complete the requirements. Pass it on Friday next week." He said and handed me the printout.  "Okay. Thank you." I said with a smile on my face. "Okay. You can go now." He said and glanced at his watch on his left wrist. "Take your lunch." He added since it is already 12 PM. He stood up from his seat and offer to shake hands and I stand up as well and gladly accepted it. We walked out of the interwiew room.  "See you in 2 two weeks, Via!" Sir Jason said with a huge smile and I replied, "See you, Sir Jason!" And he went back to the front desk and I headed to the elevator. Who could have thought that I will get a new job today. Even though I find it hard everyday to get up from bed and go to the same company everyday, applying wasn't part of my plan yet. Maybe my guardian angel whispered something on my ear when I woke up because this is a lucky day. My parents will surely celebrate once they hear the good news. My mom kept on asking me to find a new job. Who wouldn't? I have this job for two years and six months now and my savings will not even be enough to feed me for six months if I become unemployed, consider the fact that I do not pay bills yet. I am the youngest in the family so I am still living with my parents. Aside from that, the company doesn't really provide good compensation and security to its employees' future. I stayed only because my co-workers are good and I am happy with them. - The next day... I went back to work. First thing first, I waited for my closest colleague, Sarah. She always comes at exactly between 8:00 to 8:10 AM, thanks to the 10 minutes grace period. It always saves her from getting disciplinary action due to tardiness. I sat in the couch near the stairs and waited for her. Our workplace is in a 3-story building. The warehouse and parking lot is located in the first floor, office in the second and cafeteria and conference rooms in the third. Oh, here comes Sarah. I stand up and walked towards her. She saw me when she reached the last step of the stairs. "Seems like someone is in a good mood, huh?" She said while panting. The office is like 1 kilometre away from the gate and add the stairway. Who will not gasped for air? The ceiling on the first floor was designed higher that normal since our company uses big trucks for pick up and deliveries. So the stair have more steps than usual.  I handed her the white envelope I've been holding since morning. "What's that? Love letter?" Sarah asked in a teasing manner. While opening the envelope, she sat down on the couch. When she finally saw what's inside. Her eyes widened, she faced me, hold my two arms and shake me. "Oh my, oh my God! Is this true?" She asked and read the letter again. "Will they let you render for only two weeks? Among us, your job is the most complicated." She asked worriedly. "I will submit it later before I go home. What can I do? The HR only gave me two weeks and for all we know, they are expecting this since I passed the civil service exam." I answered and gave her a reassuring smile.  If you are not familiar with civil service examination, it's a test to get your eligibility card to work for government positions.  Sarah asked me to go to the washroom with her. She needs to wipe her sweat and retouch her make up. Then we headed back to our own cubicle and started working. - The company's cafeteria only sells rice meals. So Sarah and I decided to open a mini store here months ago, for additional income as well. We are selling biscuits, junk foods, cup noodles and instant coffees which are the best seller. We also offer prepaid loads. We earned and got back the capital we invested just after a month since other departments also buys from us so our items are always sold out. During lunch, we talked about it and she decided to close the mini store once I leave the company.  She will only keep the prepaid load business. This mini store is also providing as enough monthly allowance for our Shamee orders. Hahaha.  (Shamee is an online shopping plafform) - My heart is no longer heavy knowing that I will soon leave this company. It feels so good. ~~~
